More book reviews: "Musings on Leadership"
Tor Mesoy 莫翩 Executive Coach - Strategic Adviser
Helping senior leaders and leadership flourish and maximize impact.
Early “beta” readers of the book Musings on Leadership continue to provide valuable reviews. I am thrilled that reviews have trickled in from all continents, from people of all ages (at least from the twenties to their seventies) and from such diverse professions: CEOs, musicians, university professors, authors, teachers, financial analysts, entrepreneurs, public sector leaders, guides, writers, managing directors, coaches, students, medical doctors, and consultants … just to name a few. Goes to show: leadership opportunities are everywhere and strong interest in leadership is everywhere.
Below are two reviews, from people in very different walks of life and at different stages of their personal leadership journeys.
From Nicolai Bolling, Educator and Guide:
“I am very excited that Musings on Leadership has been published.
I have been mentored by one of the authors. My conversations with him have been key for both my personal and professional growth. I hope that through this book his passion for mentoring and leadership development will have exponential impact.
I find it refreshing that the authors are very honest about their own flaws and mistakes, but also their achievements. Their ability to reflect over what they learned from their experiences (and also their clients’ experiences) made me examine myself more honestly to be able to learn more from each of the short real-life examples in the book. Depending on what you do or where you are in life there will be different examples that speak more to you.
For me there were four examples that stood out that have been important for my journey at this stage. The first one was “Mastering time management and making the most of every minute – 3 steps to success” by Nick Chatrath. This was a great practical suggestion for how to get more out of your day that I now try to follow. The second example was “Three was to make the most of your success” also by Nick Chatrath. I am at the stage in my life were I am starting to think of changing paths in a few years. This example gave me some very useful questions to reflect over to understand better how the transition will be successful. The third and fourth examples were “The value of letting go of control” by Tor Mesoy and “Giving feedback well to improve collaboration” by Yan Liu. These two examples made my rethink how I listen and also how I communicate a problem to both colleagues and persons close to me.
A leader is a person that should always seek further growth. Reading this book, we are bound to reflect over ourselves and our skillsets. This book, written by authors that are all highly skilled at reflecting over what is needed to make a great leader, is a very good tool for anyone that seeks personal development as a leader and as a person.”

From Joshua Miller, CEO:
“A wonderful guide for every leader! Leadership books are often tomes of discourse or dense theoretical texts, ultimately becoming less useful simply because they are difficult to digest and apply to one’s daily life. In contrast, Musings on Leadership distills the most valuable and practical approaches to leadership into a profound yet easy-to-read handbook.
The personal stories of real-life scenarios illustrate the applicability of each principle described - combining the insights from Mesoy’s own extensive experience with boulders of wisdom from some of history’s greatest leaders. The modest title of the book is very much in the spirit of true leadership and “showing people the way”.
Having read many leadership books over the course of 20 years in business, I’d rate this as being among the very best for both the aspiring entrepreneur looking to become a better leader, and for the seasoned leader looking to remind themselves of the most effective practices to apply to their organization. It is something to be read, enjoyed and applied, then re-read whenever one seeks inspiration. Thank you!”
