More AI and Privacy Scholarship

I previously shared some of my scholarship on AI, and here are a few more short pieces that you might enjoy:

Kafka in the Age of AI and the Futility of Privacy as Control

I’m excited to share with you a draft of my forthcoming essay with Professor Woodrow Hartzog (BU Law),?Kafka in the Age of AI and the Futility of Privacy as Control, 104 B.U. L. Rev. (forthcoming 2024). This essay is quick read with just 20 pages.

In this essay we argue that although Kafka shows us the plight of the disempowered individual, his work also paradoxically suggests that empowering the individual isn’t the answer to protecting privacy, especially in the age of artificial intelligence.

I also made a short slideshow of some key quotes from this paper with AI. I think the results are quite visually stunning. Here are a few slides.? Click the button below to see them all.

AI, Algorithms, and Awful Humans

Hideyuki (“Yuki”) Matsumi (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and I wrote a short essay, AI, Algorithms, and Awful Humans, forthcoming 92 Fordham Law Review (2024).

The essay argues that various arguments about human versus machine decision-making fail to account for several important considerations regarding how humans and machines decide.

AI Training Course

If your organization is creating AI or using AI tools, it is essential to educate your workforce on AI ethics and risk management.

I developed a short AI training course that will provide key background about AI, its risks, and how to address them.

Thanks for sharing, my perspective on this is pointing at the impacts of AI in the workforce, which is immeasurable and undoubtedly it has come to stay, though the watch-word is its risk management. Meanwhile, considering data protection, especially for online business transactions, great attention is required in protecting individuals and agreements on deals and obligations that must be met. When we get to this point in the use of AI in business cases, then we've got the answer to remote work issues and problems identified in distanced business transactions. This means that AI will assist in probing fraudulent processes or persons with its monitoring techniques for security purpose.
