No More Aftertaste

Tab, like much from the 1970's, has died of old age. Who knew it was still on the market? With a can shortage the only Coke products available are Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. Maybe Coke Zero.

Tab was the first diet soft drink. It tasted like nothing else. Is that a good thing? I was told Diet Coke is a girl's drink. Demographics have men drinking Coke Zero and women liking Diet Coke.

Marketing is for someone else. I like what I like. Cannot recall the last time I saw Tab. On the occasions I saw it the thought was "They still make Tab?" They might as well bring back New Coke.

I didn't mind that. The weird thing about the cola wars? Coca-Cola and Pepsi have secret formulas. The recipes cannot be replicated even if they are available on the internet. Dasani and Aquafina outsell soda.

Want the secret recipe for Dasani or Aquafina? Turn on the tap. They use municipal water and it's nothing special. Water is cheap until it is placed in non biodegradable bottles. Another story, another article.

As "Convenience" ruins the landscape and creates more garbage? Tab is not going to be available. It will probably be one of the choices at The World of Coca Cola in Atlanta and look for it at dollar stores and Ollie's Discount Outlets.

Did cancer in laboratory rats translate to more deaths in people? Wear a damn mask. That will keep you alive regardless of your choice of beverage. Would I miss Tab? Not as much as Diet Vanilla Coke. Vanilla Coke Zero is available or it will be when cans are readily available.

If people are willing to buy it? They can bring it back. For now? Let it go back to the seventies where it belongs. Was Tab Clear as tasteless as Crystal Pepsi? That soda tasted flat which is why it did not last. I only recall Pepsi Blue because of product placement in the remake of The Italian Job.

Seeing it a couple years after release made the movie seem more dated than the Michael Caine version. Not as bad as Austin Powers references to "Jared from Subway" who is locked up for statutory rape. tab is more memorable and it might still be available at fountains with many choices. I would choose something else.
