Mordu Damour

Wildlife portraitist Laurent Baheux regularly ventures into the heart of the African savannah. His artistic career in black and white was launched when he was nominated in 2007 for the international Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in 2007. Through a stylised aesthetic approach that stands out from traditional photography, he magnifies nature and endangered wildlife. He says of his work: “I feel safer photographing wild animals than I do living among men.”

After first being involved in sport and current affairs photography, I?later decided to devote myself solely to nature photography. In 2007, my?success at the?Wildlife Photographer?of the Year competition in the?Creative visions of nature?category provided the starting point for an artistic career based on animals and wildlife. For almost fifteen years, I have?travelled to the last remaining protected areas on Earth, providing us with a visual record of the remnants of our wild planet.
