Morbi-Kutch highway closure disrupts gas supply to ceramic industry: fear of loss of crores

Morbi : Due to heavy rains, the road connecting Morbi-Kutch is currently closed due to heavy rains, the world's second largest ceramic industry of Morbi is feared to suffer a blow of 25 to 30 crores. A situation has arisen, on the other hand, 125 gas-filled tankers ordered by Morbi factories have fallen near Surajbari bridge, but these tankers are unable to reach Morbi, so they have to shut down factories in Dharar from Wednesday night. It has come to light that the Maliya highway has been opened immediately and the gas dealers and ceramic industrialists have demanded the government to transport these tankers to Morbi as required.

Morbi's ceramic industry is currently facing a slump with more than 100 units taking voluntary shutdown on Satam Athama Tehwar due to container fare hike, while heavy rains blocked Morbi-Kutch highway, disrupting supply of LPG and propane gas to over 200 factories in Motagaja, Morbi. Shaileshbhai Dhanja, dealer of green gas of Morbi and Dharmeshbhai Jobanputra, dealer of tri gas said that.

It may be mentioned that at present more than 250 factories in Morbi Ceramic Industries are using LPG and propane gas and all these quantities of gas are supplied in tankers from Mundra port in Kutch. At present, 125 tankers of LPG and propane ordered by the ceramic factories of Morbi have reached Samkhiyari, but due to the closure of the highway, these 125 tankers cannot reach Morbi, so a situation has arisen in approximately 200 factories that have to stop kilns from today i.e., Wednesday night itself.

In addition, according to the Morbi ceramic industrialists, once the kiln is stopped in a ceramic factory, it costs 10 to 15 lakhs to restart the kiln, so in case of disruption of gas supply, 200 factories will suffer a loss of approximately 25 to 30 crores. In this situation, Dharmesh Jobanputra of Try Gas of Morbi and Shailesh Dhanja of Greengas have requested the government and the MLA to start the Malia Miana highway immediately for the necessary gas supply to the government and arrange arrangements for the gas tankers to reach Morbi.
