Moral beauty and collective effervescence are two concepts that can be closely intertwined in breakthrough companies. Moral beauty is the notion of valuing ethics, morality, and justice when making decisions. It's doing the right things for the right reasons and minimizing collateral damage. Collective effervescence is a concept in which people come together to achieve and celebrate success. When both concepts are combined, the power of strong leadership can guide a group to reach lofty, uncommon goals by doing well and good together.
Leadership is the catalyst for collective effervescence because it aligns the collective mission, vision, and strategy with the employee's purpose, aspirations, and career development. Through this alignment, leaders can create an environment that best encourages peak performance through collaboration, creativity, and trust between members. Like sparkling bubbles bursting out of popped champagne bottles, achievement and success gush across organizations like championship teams and their fans savoring their victory.
Similarly, strong leadership is essential when striving for moral beauty. Leaders must possess the strength of character to make decisions that are based on ethics and morality rather than personal gain or short-term financial interests. It also requires a clear set of values that sets the tone for the entire organization. When leaders are committed to ethical decision-making, it becomes easier for collective action and outcomes that reflect those values. Victory is sweeter when the cause is righteous.
At their core, moral beauty and collective effervescence both require strong leadership. Without leaders who possess the courage and strength of character to make decisions in favor of ethics, morality, and justice, collective effervescence will be hindered and moral beauty can never be achieved. Leaders must lead by example for any collective to reach its full potential.

We need leaders who aren't afraid to challenge the status quo, make decisions based on ethics and morality, and set an example of aligning collective and individual goals. Moral beauty and collective effervescence can both be achieved when leaders take the initiative to create an environment where people feel brave enough to come together and excel. Only when strong leadership is present can collective effervescence and moral beauty support and magnify each other to achieve greatness.
