It’s true, the Moon really is coming to Texas. We call it the Lunar Landscape Experience. If you, some of my friends, and I have our way, it can still happen this year. You can, and should help. I will tell you how at the end of this brief article.
We still have a lot to do before we can really put this virus behind us. In reality, it will be months, and in some cases, years before we achieve the new “normal.” For my own part, I have been busier than ever with telemedicine issues handling the Covid-19 pandemic. My passion project, Back To Space, is as strong as ever, though waiting for things to calm down a bit. I think that time is now... Covid-19 has engulfed our focus, but maybe now, we can begin to once again align our sights on a bright future, along with the things that unite us and make us strong.
Some of you are aware that on May 27, SpaceX is slated to launch the first manned space flight since the final Shuttle launch. The SpaceX Crew Dragon is one of the coolest space capsules ever built.
Anyone remember when that last Shuttle launch was????
Final Shuttle Mission STS 135 - Atlantis July 8, 2011.
During the period beginning in the 1960s, for about 20 years, we produced more science, engineering, technology and art than the entire history of mankind, COMBINED. That’s about 35,000 years of human creativity eclipsed in a couple decades!
How do we restart that engine?
Inspiration. We need to be inspired by the coolest things possible, coupled with a belief that we can achieve anything we put our hearts and minds to.
The SpaceX Launch on May 27 should inspire excitement.
The Moon coming to Jacksboro, Texas will inspire kids and adults – for generations.
The Lunar Landscape Experience (LLE) will be a 25,447 square foot explore-able map of the moon. LLE should be a Guinness Book site because it will easily be the largest map on the planet. But wait, it doesn’t stop there! The site will feature state of the art virtual reality and augmented reality. Want a selfie with Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldrin at the Apollo 11 landing site? Can Do! Want to really explore the craters and mountains of the Moon? Want to join a rocket competition that tries to land on the Apollo landing sites, or perhaps one of the future Artemis sites? Want to test your skills in an obstacle course with your weight at lunar gravity? Visitors will be able to do all these things and more when the Moon arrives in Jacksboro, Texas later this year.
How can you help? Own a piece of the Moon through the Back To Space funding efforts at WeFunder. Move fast, because we will be closing that funding portal down on May 31. Help us let the world know about this amazing project by telling your friends and posting on social media. Contact me through LinkedIn, if you have any ideas or want to participate in other ways.

4 年Hey Michael. This screams Disney/Nat Geo and the work/mission Tom Van Sant was on twenty-five+ years ago (The Geosphere Project.) As you probably know, Tom worked with JPL, NOAA and NASA to commission the world’s first, all digital, satellite view of the Earth. You’ve seen his work. It was made famous by National Geographic as the image every school boy and girl knows as the cover of the National Geographic World Atlas. One of Nat Geo’s former execs (CTO) went on to go work at Google - and their parent, The Walt Disney Company, is pretty big on #STEM initiatives. Let me see if I’m still connected with anyone there. Yours is the kind of project I’m sure both camps would at least want to know about.
