MOOCs are great, but they are not college

As a MOOC consumer, I can attest that this article, What We've Learned From MOOCs (written by three Stanford Professors and posted at Inside Higher Ed) is on target. These are not college courses. They are a more interactive form of courses I get from The Great Courses Company. Additionally, I fit the category of the demographic using them the most: "college-educated men in highly industrialized countries." I find that MOOCs are a great way for me to stay sharp, grow intellectually, and continue to learn in the midst of my career. However, the initial excitement about their ability to reach a different demographic seems to diminishing, as noted in these articles from both the academic world and the corporate world.
