Monumental Momentum.

This is the final reflection on our series of Monumental Motivation and Momentum.?In previous weeks we’ve explored what motivation actually is, and isn’t.?Why understanding your “I” in your why is vital for not only your personal motivation but as a beacon for motivating others.?We’ve discussed how to get flatlined motivation from zero to hero, and finally how to sustain motivation within your teams or business.


This is the last piece of this fabulous jigsaw, and arguably the most important: Momentum.?Stepping back for just a moment.?We’re all super motivated, armed with our superpower, our I in our why and raring to go for it.?You and your teams/colleagues are lined up, pumped at the starting line, the gun fires and you run hard.?Harder than you’ve ever run in your life…. Then it happens, *boom* pile up in lane one.?The mess worthy of a cheesy teen horror movie, carnage, burnouts, mental health break downs, goals missed, exhaustion.?You sit at the side lines to catch your breath and survey how on earth to get back up, you look up and ALL your runners are suddenly just sitting there, waiting for you to get back up.?Your business has entered free fall.?Sh*t.


Once you and your teams are motivated to take action, and when you get the momentum set at the right pace, your business will start to work on auto piolet.?You will surprise even yourself at the level of productivity.?As a leader in business one of the most important roles you have is as the lead pace car setter.?


So what is this holy grail of monumental momentum, I’m sure we would all rather work with high productivity and on auto piolet, rather than continually shoving the momentum boulder up the wrong side of mountain.?In just 5 simple strategies you can have momentum going like a super star.


1.??????Crystal Clear Clarity: ?Have crystal clear clarity of what success in your business looks like and the purpose of that success.?Everyone in your organisation needs to be clear on what the bigger picture looks like for the business.?Clarity over exactly what action steps are needed to get there.?Lack of clarity ultimately leads to paralysis of growth, and lack of productivity.?If you don’t know where you are going, get out the car, stop driving around aimlessly and save your fuel until you all know where the final destination is.?

2.??????Use SMARTER Goals:?Make sure you work through SMARTER goals with your leaders in your business.?If you haven’t composed a SMARTER goals proforma drop me a message and ask for my “Road Map to Success”.?This is an amazing workbook which helps people to address what their goals are across all areas of their life, have a greater understanding of what they want, how to achieve a balance, and most of all how to manage expectations around the goal.?I could declare and manifest that by the end of 2023 I will be a self made millionaire, I could visualise and plan, work my ass off, however how will I manage my expectations when circumstances outside of my control happen?

3.??????You are the Pace Car:?Being the pace car for a business comes great responsibility.?You have 2 vital roles.

a.??????To set a maintainable work and productivity speed through model behaviour.?Show through your actions what you put into your business on a daily basis.?Don’t over-egg what you are capable of doing in attempts to drive your teams faster.?Use an “MMA” – Money Making Activities checklist with your leader with the top 4-6 DAILY tasks that need to be completed.?This helps with focus, get those done first, then add the extras or the frills.

b.??????Set a speed that isn’t going to cause a fatal crash.?Monitor your own burn out levels and signs.?Set the speed in a way that promotes productivity but not Martyrdom.?Business goals are never a hill worth dying on.?The speed needs to be right to generate excitement and progression but not so fast that no one can catch a breath.?Avoid creating a culture where people work 7 days a week.?Rest & maintenance is important for those little cars of yours spinning around the track.?If you notice that your business has meetings every evening of the week to drive fast productivity out of short term rapid growth and focus periods, give people the permission to say NO and work out what combination of meetings suits them.?Death by zoom is a real thing.

4.??????Flexibility:?Businesses, just as life goes through seasons and is transitional.?Often the original vision and values of a business need to change as it grows and matures.?Be open minded to tweaking, changing and communicating your business vision as it morphs.?In long business winters, the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of yourself and your teams is important.?Food, warmth and protection are the three key needs in winter.?Show compassion and acknowledge challenging situations.?We’ve all been there in the last couple of years where multiple key figures are struck down with COVID simultaneously for instance.?How as a leader have you prepared for that??To adjust the pace and speed of business and be flexible with the times for your goals??Summer and Autumn are periods celebrate with great gusto.?The reaping of the fruits that you have all worked so hard for.?Check that no one in your business is sitting starving on the edges.?

5.??????Bossing it:?How many times do we see this.?A business owner succeeds, delegates all their tasks, puts more pressure on their colleagues, partners and teams, whilst having their own feet up on a beach sipping sangria.?It does NOTHING for the momentum of your business in the long run.?Their work is supporting your lifestyle.?A passive income is amazing, it is what we all want after all.?Check that your attitude of gratitude is still shining through and that you are still demonstrating that you are getting off your own laurels and putting in action.?After all you are still the pace maker, you stop, they stop.?


Monumental momentum isn’t rocket science.?Granted it doesn’t just puff into being like a magical wish from a Genie in a Bottle.?Momentum is planned.?It is a continual process of self inspection and reflection of getting that pace right.?It’s a process of acceptance of seasons and highly skilled momentum maintainers are master communicators.?Your challenge for today is to honestly reflect on your pace, is it duplicatable, and how do you communicate with clarity to your teams and colleagues.?If you don’t currently hold a monthly or weekly clarity call in your business, now is the time to get one scheduled in.???
