MEDICATION ADHERENCE NEWS

  • According to CNN, three of the biggest makers of asthma inhalers pledged to cap out-of-pocket costs for some US patients at $35, but for daily inhalers used by younger kids with asthma. High-cost inhalers lead to poor refill rates and nonadherence, which leads to increased exacerbations and emergency room visits.
  • One in six U.S. adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) reported cost-related medication nonadherence (CRN), according to a newly published study in BMC Public Health. CRN was highest among low-income women under 65?years of age without health insurance and with a multimorbidity.
