1) Adobe

An Adobe Acrobat Reader use-after-free bug was added to the list of known exploited vulnerabilities by the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA) last month. According to the report, the cloud versions 22.003.20281 and 22.003.20282 and earlier versions contain the bug.

What does it do? Well, cybercriminals can use the vulnerability to execute malicious code remotely on an account which is compromised. Moreover, the CISA experts have advised users to update the software as quickly as possible.

2) Okta

Okta, one of the well-known identity and access management company in the US that provides cloud software suffered a security breach. To be more precise, the company disclosed that their support systems were hacked, exposing large number of client files. Lately, many security incidents related to Okta products have come to light. As a result of the cybersecurity incident disclosure, Okta is reported to have lost 2 billion dollars in market cap and the shares have slumped 11% last week.

3) Booking.com

Booking.com is one of the popular websites for travellers which has come under cyberattacks this month. It is believed that the travel website’s email system has been compromised. The reports further reveal that customers from different parts have complained of receiving scam emails from the site.

It is hard to determine the fraudulent nature of emails because [email protected] email id is being used asking for bank card details through an embedded link.

4) Hacktivists

The 2023 prediction of growing hacktivists was spot on by experts. A number of cybersecurity professionals have reported that both Israeli as well as Palestinian hacktivists are looking to hack Industrial Control Systems (ICS) as they are believed to be vulnerable. Unlike the typical small-scale attacks, the activities have levelled up in its scale and impact.

5) Hackers Corrupting AI

National Cyber Threat Analysis Centre at the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore have reported that cyber criminals are actively looking to corrupt Artificial Intelligence (AI) and generative AI platforms like ChatGPT. The major concern is that ransomware creation will increase exponentially, threatening to increase ransomware induced cyberattacks to rise. Experts further suggest that right measures have to be taken today to prevent AI from becoming an advanced tool for malicious activity.

6) 400% Growth in IoT Malware Attacks

Zscaler ThreatLabs reported that 400% growth in IoT malware attacks have been observed. The report further delves into latest strategies, best practices and practical tips for preventing IoT malware attacks.
