Breakfast Meet - India

We hosted the AIM Leaders Council Breakfast meet this month and was joined by renowned speaker Pankaj Rai (He/Him/His) .

Topic of discussion was "Data Strategies for the Future: Balancing Innovation, Governance, and Technology". Pankaj highlighted how we overlook innovations in our daily tasks. How unknowingly yet, strategically a simple task irrespective of age is done with perfection.

Roundtable - India

Our September roundtable discussion was on the topic "Combating shadow AI in the organization". The discussion emphasizes the rising awareness of shadow AI through clear communication, quick education, and policies. Below are few key categories,

1. Strategic Misalignment - Where AI teams purpose, goals, budget, KPI etc are not aligned with whole org's purpose.

2. Operational Misalignment - The AI team's activities don't directly contribute to the company's financial performance.

3. Structural Misalignment- The AI leadership is not well connected with or far removed from the Executive leadership, its skills and experiences don't match the company's requirements.

4. Cultural Misalignment- Specific market factors may induce overly cautious behaviours, archaic performance/ reward mechanisms, that stifle open collaboration required for creating transformative change with AI.

US Roundtable - Our September roundtable discussion was on the topic "The importance of AI literacy among non-tech employees."

In the meeting, our leaders addressed challenges with AI adoption, including the need for better AI literacy, improving data quality, and scaling use cases. They highlighted the importance of educating non-technical users on responsible AI use and noted that while technical employees adapt well to AI tools, motivating non-technical staff involves demonstrating AI’s efficiency benefits and managing expectations.

Online Meetup - India Chapter -?

The AIM Leaders Council hosted its Online Meet on 19 September, 2024 at 5:00 PM.

Topic of discussion - "How is the brain's recognition of patterns distinct from End-to-end DNN?"

The talk focused on "the differences between the brain's pattern recognition and deep neural networks (DNN). While DNNs are often compared to biological neural networks, he emphasizes that the two are not equivalent. Biological neurons are far more complex, with even a single neuron having multiple junctions. The brain processes visual information efficiently, often learning from fewer examples than AI, which requires thousands. He also shares an experience of improving the accuracy of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) by enhancing image resolution, highlighting the limitations of AI compared to the brain's innate feature extraction.
