Monthly Missions: Camaraderie through shared hardship
Members of Team Red, White & Blue , America’s health and wellness community for veterans, know that any goal worth achieving is best done with motivated people on your flanks.?These veterans and veteran supporters also know that there’s no better way to strengthen the bonds of connection than through shared hardship, especially a physical challenge (comprehensive research support).? Veterans, having volunteered countless times to step up, raise their hand, and declare, "Send me, I'll go," gravitate to this ethos.?It’s an ethos that values and even requires continued challenges to be overcome. That's precisely why Team RWB calls upon the Eagle Nation and its supporters to invest time and energy in training for and completing monthly missions, especially as a collective force.
While humans naturally attempt to evade pain, hardship, and suffering, those who have encountered these trials understand the benefits. Veterans and military service members grasp this truth intimately. Whether during the initial days of basic training, grueling physical exercises within their units, or actual combat missions, these service members consistently push their bodies beyond their once-perceived limits. A significant driver for performing at such a level is the sense of accountability to their comrades on either side. The mutual support within this community stands as one of the most positive results of Team RWB's impact.
The fundamental purpose of the military is mission accomplishment. Similarly, health and wellness pursuits thrive on a mission-driven mentality. Most of us have likely experienced aimless sessions at the gym, where we move without a clear plan. However, the difference is palpable when we operate under a structured program with a distinct purpose. This is where the monthly missions program comes into play. Members are tasked with completing a specified, scaled, or adapted physical challenge workout alongside their peers. Each month, these missions revolve around a military-themed focus. September entails a 9/11 stair climb to honor those who entered the towers, October involves the Mogadishu Mile, November features a WOD for Warriors, and December pays tribute to the Battle of the Bulge.
While the reference to the Battle of the Bulge, or rather combating our own holiday indulgence, carries a touch of humor, the underlying intention is to engage in physical activity with others to become the best version of oneself. These missions are not limited to once-a-month events; they include training plans that individuals can pursue alongside their local RWB chapter members. Given the demands of modern life, the training can also be conducted virtually through the Team RWB App, fostering engagement within the extensive online Eagle Nation community.? All these training plans are designed by fitness-industry-certified full-time staff and volunteers with a nationwide presence. These missions and their associated training highlight activities such as running (both speed and endurance), functional fitness, and rucking. They receive support through in-person chapters and virtual activity groups, which also include yoga, cycling, triathlon, obstacle course racing, and nutritional guidance.? Team RWB truly is America’s Leading Health & Wellness Community for Veterans.
