The Monthly Buzz by groundcover - June 2024

groundcover v1.8 is out!

This edition of our monthly publication is a celebration of this major milestone, which comes with a massive set of enhanced capabilities added to our revolutionary observability platform, including:

  • Consolidation of multi-cluster monitoring
  • Custom environment labels
  • Customizable retention policies
  • Free-text search for K8s events
  • Support for storage on Amazon S3

Consolidation of multi-cluster monitoring

This new capability allows you to simultaneously monitor as much of your environment as you choose, providing a more comprehensive picture and saving considerable time.

You can now view your monitoring data from multiple clusters, side-by-side, to quickly identify issues that appear in more than one environment. This will allow you to expose patterns, dependencies, and performance issues, much more clearly than by monitoring clusters individually.

Custom environment labels

You can now also create your own labels for clusters you monitor, helping you group together multiple clusters that may have a common purpose, location, or any other criteria that would make it valuable to you to consolidate their monitoring. [Read more]

Customized data retention policies

If you only need to retain your error logs for 6 months, for compliance purposes, why should you also be required to keep non-error logs? And if you want to retain traces in your production environment for 30 days, why not reduce the retention of traces in your development environment to only 7 days?

groundcover now offers total flexibility for you to define different retention periods for different criteria of the same data types.

Gain total control over your data retention policies and align your data retention periods to your organization's internal policy. [Read more]

Free-text search support for K8s events

In addition to the ability to use free text to search your logs, which enables you to search within the content of logs, this new capability also allows you to do the same with Kubernetes events by searching the content of the event message.? Combining this powerful capability with another recent update, that allows you to use wildcards in your searches, makes it very quick and easy to pinpoint the exact Kubernetes events you are looking for. Support for storage on Amazon S3

groundcover's main goals has always been to lower observability costs, without needing to compromise on observability. Our platform's unique inCloud architecture keeps all your data in your environment at all times, completely decoupling your subscription cost from your data volumes. Our integrations with ClickHouse and VictoriaMetrics create the best cost-performance balance for storage. Now, customers using our inCloud Managed setup can take it even further by using Amazon S3 for their hot/cold storage.
