In July, we shed a light on financial abuse and reviewed the policies and systems needed for change. We also celebrated?NAIDOC Week and we're preparing for?Homelessness Week.?

Finally, we take 'The Plunge' for change!


In late June, Anglicare WA’s Advocacy & Strategy Team made a submission?to a?federal parliamentary inquiry?into?financial abuse and the role of financial institutions in preventing it.?

Drawing on the insights of our financial services and clients, the submission called for policy and systems change and provided recommendations including legislative and regulatory reforms to prevent financial abuse and support?victim survivors, access to safer financial products and institutions, and enhanced monitoring of financial institutions.

Anglicare WA’s housing services are on the frontlines providing housing support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and Homelessness Week provides a critical opportunity to not only highlight this important work, but also to advocate for systems change.

Occurring in the first week of August, and coordinated by Homelessness Australia, Homelessness Week is a national annual event that raises awareness about the impact of homelessness and the solutions needed to end it.??

Occurring in the first week of July, NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration of the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an opportunity for all Australians to come together and learn about First Nations cultures and histories.

This year NAIDOC Week was held from 7-14 July and the theme was ‘Keep the Fire Burning!? Blak, Loud and Proud’.? The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture, connection to Country and community, and an unapologetic celebration of First Nations identity.
