This month: The silent business growth killer

Hello from Each&Other,

First newsletter of the year – where has January gone – it flew by! Anyway, here’s what we’re thinking about:

  • Experience debt: the silent business growth killer by Brian Herron
  • The Big Idea launches another year
  • And down the rabbit hole: A deep article on avoiding errors in healthcare UX; Then a few on AI… well it’s all over the news because of Deepseek – Firstly, what is Deepseek all about; Secondly, a Deepseek/OpenAI story simply ‘cos we loved the headline; Finally, Meta removes AI bots Grandpa Brian and Liv after backlash.

The silent business growth killer: Experience Debt

If your digital product is seeing lower renewal rates, stalling revenue or customer churn, it might signal a deeper UX issue. Here’s how to start putting it right.

THE B!G iDEA

Hard to believe we’ve been supporting The Big Idea for four years now – an amazing initiative designed to unleash the creative power of secondary school students.

In 2024, the programme supported 100 schools, empowered 4,000 students, and brought hundreds of innovative B!G Ideas to the world!

Hats off to the Each&Other team – seven employees mentoring student teams; across 11 counties; 31 Student Teams Mentored; 145 Students Supported.

And this is what it's all about:

“We did a lot of creative stuff and I didn't think I was creative at all before the programme. I do now!” Leah, Student, Cashel Community College.

Bring on 2025 which just launched for mentors . Read about The Big Idea here.

Down the rabbit hole

What we’ve been reading this month…

Healthcare | UX

A deep article about the promise of digital healthcare, the pitfalls and how they can be overcome whilst remembering that it’s not just design for usability—it’s design for life.

AI | Deepseek

A brilliant primer on the tech, economics, and politics of the DeepSeek impact from Ben Thompson

Deepseek | OpenAI

Including as we loved the headline “OpenAI Furious DeepSeek Might Have Stolen All the Data OpenAI Stole From Us.“ Serious point though.

Meta | AI Bots

There’s been a backlash against a future Meta envisages so they’ve removed their AI bots Grandpa Brian and Liv from FB & Insta.
