A month's recap of the activities of Sunday Marshall Katung, Senator, Kaduna South Senatorial District, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Introduction
As we step into the vibrant month of July, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and fulfilling month ahead. May this new month bring us closer to our goals, strengthen our communities, and foster unity among all Nigerians. Here's a look back at the significant events and activities that marked my journey throughout June.
Agenda
June 4
On June 4th, I had the pleasure of joining family members, friends, associates, millions of Nigerians, and the people of Bayelsa State to celebrate the 65th birthday of my dear brother, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri. I am profoundly grateful to the Almighty God for preserving him and helping him bear the onerous responsibilities of serving the people of Bayelsa. His unwavering approach and passion to achieve his goals are truly inspirational to many Nigerians. As we marked his birthday, Lord Mayor Abigail and I prayed for good health and the special grace for him to continue serving Bayelsa State, our nation, and mankind for many more years. Once again, happy birthday, my dear brother.
June 12
On June 12th, I joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating and celebrating 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in our dear country. This day is a celebration of freedom and victory for us and our nation. It reminds us of the sacrifices made for our democracy and the importance of keeping hope alive. Let's continue to work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

It was with a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of our dear and beloved father, the Chief of Moro’a, His Royal Highness, Mallam Tagwai Sambo, OFR, on June 15th. His Royal Highness joined his forefathers at the age of 88 years. This is indeed a great loss not only to the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District but to Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole. Baba Sambo lived a very productive life, representing the virtues of truth, service, and honesty during his 58 years on the throne. His leadership and goodwill brought enormous development to the Chiefdom and improved the living standards of his people. Nigeria has lost one of its longest-reigning traditional monarchs, whose contributions to unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians will not be forgotten.
June 16
On this day, I joined the Muslim community in Kaduna South Senatorial District, Kaduna State, Nigeria, and across the globe in celebrating this year's Eid-ul-Adha, the feast of sacrifice. Eid-ul-Adha symbolizes sacrifice, discipline, faith, love of God, and love for our neighbor. I called on our citizens to continue praying for peace, unity, and religious harmony, which are essential to sustaining the glory of our dear Senatorial District, Kaduna State, and the Nation at large.
June 16
Earlier that day, I visited the palace of the Moro'a Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area to pay my condolences to the family of the late Chief, His Royal Highness, Mallam Tagwai Sambo, OFR. Alongside Hon. Daniel Amos, we sympathized with the people of Moro'a Chiefdom over the loss of our respected Father and leader. Baba Sambo's leadership and goodwill significantly impacted the development of the Chiefdom and the living standards of his people.

On June 21st, I joined hundreds of well-wishers, party faithful, friends, and colleagues to celebrate my dear brother, Hon. Daniel Amos, marking his one year in office as a member representing Jema'a/Sanga Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. The ceremony featured the empowerment of our youth with business grants, distribution of fertilizer to farmers, distribution of rice, grinding machines, industrial sewing machines, cartons of agrochemicals, and scholarships to students. Hon. Daniel Amos has been an outstanding lawmaker since his election, and I commend him for his remarkable achievements. His dedication to serving the people is commendable, and I congratulate all beneficiaries of his generosity.
June 22
On June 22nd, I paid an unscheduled visit to Kaduna State College of Nursing & Midwifery, Kafanchan. I met with the Deputy Provost, Mr. Ephraim Dyages, and other management staff who conducted me around the school premises. It was disturbing to see the infrastructural challenges confronting the college, especially the dilapidated male hostel. These poor conditions are frustrating the efforts of staff and the performance of students. I am committed to reaching out to the Governor to address these critical needs, particularly in infrastructure and other facilities.
Later that day, I paid my last respects to our late King, His Royal Highness, the Chief of Moro'a, Dr. Tagwai Sambo, during his funeral service in Manchok. The mammoth crowd at the service was a testament to Baba Sambo's impactful life. As we laid him to rest, I prayed for the Lord to uphold his family and console the entire Moro'a Chiefdom.
June 30
I personally visited Ribang Community in Kauru Local Government Area to commiserate with the parents and community over the unfortunate incident where six students of Government Secondary School, Fadan Chawai, drowned while returning from writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This tragic event has deeply affected the community, and my heart goes out to the families and friends of the deceased. We must continue to support each other through these trying times.
Conclusion
As we move forward into July, I remain committed to serving the people of Kaduna South Senatorial District and working towards a brighter future for all. Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
