Month one at SageCircle: Understanding AR's barriers
Duncan Chapple
Analyst Relations lead for Elisa Industriq & Elisa Polystar @ SageCircle | Analyst Observatory co-director @ Edinburgh University
I've just wrapped up my first month at SageCircle , and have learnt a lot already about the barriers facing #analystrelations teams. Here are the highlights.
- Carter Lusher and I discussed why the disappointing 2023 financials at Gartner and Forrester don't meant analyst influence is declining: https://youtu.be/NL8ztOdWeBQ?si=RP4TC51i2MEb0i8I&t=187
- My Analyst Observatory colleagues Chris Holscher and Robin Schaffer argued against 6 AR Myth. Not everyone agreed: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7170734138067537920/
- SDA Bocconi researcher Prachi Satija is joining Chris Germann and me on March 20 to discuss her interviews with 24 AR leaders about their obstacles. This will be really insightful: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7170863479661293568/
- I've looking at how AR can be supported by tools from firms like Airtable , ARInsights , Asana , monday.com and Spotlight | Analyst Relations . A great discussion opened up about what are the critical features: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7171584537498382336/
- I was really impressed with Elena Hutchison 's tips on how Ar can make the most of the Forrester Wave process: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7165294954431410176/
- I just completed Andy Yap 's INSEAD Executive Education course which had great tips on nonverbal communication. These matter so much for AR spokespeople, who often miss out on the added authority that comes from getting that right. The school reshared my summary on its social media, which was really sweet. See: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/how-nonverbal-cues-can-increase-professionals-online-duncan-chapple-9jdnc/?trackingId=RhWHTmHDQjK40n4F7ZAePg%3D%3D
- There was big news for ARchitect users with the departure of CEO Andy Zimmerman and the purchase of Wind Communications (now part of ARInsights) . The change really fitted so many of the themes in another 欧洲工商管ç†å¦é™¢ (INSEAD) course I am on completing, looking at how digital platform can become intermediaries or ecosystems. I added some thoughts at: https://www.dhirubhai.net/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7169487036805054464
- Finally, Ian Scott and I presented some findings from the Analyst Attitude Survey. Analysts are telling us that there are some substantial bottlenecks that are making them more cautious about recommending high tech solutions providers. PS If you're at 国际数æ®å…¬å¸ Directions in Boston this week, I'll look forward to seeing you at the ARInsights mixer at the Westin.

1 å¹´I also lack the bandwidth to update all analysts who write research about my company's market categories. It makes me think, do we really need so many analysts evaluating **some** markets? Having numerous comparative reports for the same category adds little value to the buyer and the vendors. That's why I don't feel guilty about not updating some of the analysts
