In the fast-paced month of May, Orion's dedicated team worked tirelessly to exceed expectations in talent acquisition. Our unwavering commitment led to remarkable milestones and strengthened our position as a leader in the industry.


Our Gas Resource team triumphed by successfully sourcing an impressive 40 engineers for an upcoming contract. This expansion bolsters our capabilities, ensuring unparalleled service for our esteemed clients.?

We had an insightful discussion with the gas team, delving into their successful acquisition of a new contract and their plans for further resource allocation to bolster their team of engineers. Read on to learn more about their strategies and future endeavours.

“December 2022 saw the onset of the tender process for an extremely exciting opportunity for Orion Gas to work in partnership with 1 of the “Big 5” UK Energy suppliers.

After 5 months of negotiations and with both sides completing due diligence, it culminated in the successful completion of the auditing process.?We were now able to begin the onboarding process.

With the excellent work that had been done securing the contract, it was now over to the resource team to identify what was required to expand our talented team to meet the requirements and commitments of the new contract.

We were able to take time to review our existing package, complete extensive market research, and speak to our current team about how we can make working with Orion an altogether more attractive proposition. We did this. We were able to offer a market-leading basic salary as well as offering achievable bonus schemes and superb benefits not only for our engineer team’s working day but also their work/life balance.

We began communicating this to the Dual Fuel Engineer community by running the #ORIONDOES marketing campaign via LinkedIn. Whereby we revealed the new elements to our package over a 10-day period, culminating in the “big reveal” on day 10. This campaign garnered interest from Dual Fuel Engineers from day 1. We ran 2 very successful interview days, going out into the field and meeting interested and talented individuals who were intrigued and enthusiastic about working for Orion.

The extensive search did not and has not stopped there. We continued to interview new engineers via Teams calls and where possible face to face. We not only identified new talent through the usual channels, but we were now receiving recommendations from new and existing staff members enthused by the opportunity to work for Orion.

With the onboarding and induction process now in full swing our engineering team will have increased by 300%.

We haven’t stopped there.

We continue to actively resource engineers for outstanding vacancies and increase our talent pool in preparation for our 2nd?new contract with another of the “Big 5”, which is on target to begin at the end of July.”


But that's not all. Over the course of the month, we diligently supported 108 individuals in securing new roles within the thriving engineering and manufacturing sector. Among them, 57 individuals found fulfilling contract positions, while 51 secured permanent roles, contributing to their long-term career growth.?

“The South Sales team have been on a number of exciting meetings this month!!

Luke Gibbons visited a customer on the South Coast who has been hiring for the same position for 12+ months with little success. He had a tour of the production facility and good a really good understanding of the skill set required. Within 2 weeks he had a candidate through the interview process and at the offer stage. It really shows the value of face to face meetings & understanding transferable skill sets.

Paige Albery met with a business that had been using a local agency to hire contractors, however, as they were starting without interviewing they had a low success rate. Whilst the benefit of contractors is that they are interchangeable, it was wasting a huge amount of resources on training. Since working together & implementing an interview process we’ve had 2 new starters who are settling in really well.

We’re also proud to announce that Lucy Lewis (CertRP) Lewis has secured a talent partnership with one of our long standing clients – watch this space for more news on this!! The challenges they faced in their recruitment strategy were based around the way their agencies were engaged under a multi-agency contingent search. This means recruiters were working their vacancies alongside multiple others with no prioritisation or urgency, along with representing candidates on a non-exclusive basis meaning they were also supplied to their competitors. The simplicity of it is that your people are your most important asset and that’s why it’s paramount to have a Talent Partner who is embedded within your business operationally, tactically and personally as a genuine extension of your business.”
