IDB Invest Addresses Sustainability in Manaus??

IDB Invest Sustainability Week 2024 was a landmark event for companies committed to making a positive impact in Latin America and the Caribbean.??

This year, the meeting was held in Manaus from June 11 to 13, with over 900 people attending in person and more than 15,000 people registered?on virtual platforms.???

The event enabled global and regional leaders to forge strategic alliances, generate business, and exchange knowledge for the sustainable development of the region, with a special focus on the Amazon region.??

Did you know that Latin America and the Caribbean are home to seven of the planet's 25 biodiversity hotspots and account for 40% of the world's biodiversity???

With the launch of a new action plan, the IDB Group is incorporating nature and biodiversity more systematically into its operations, to preserve our natural capital and provide economic development opportunities for all inhabitants of the region.??

Among other areas, the plan will coordinate the dialogue that the IDB Group maintains with countries in this area, the preparation and execution of projects, and the creation of knowledge products.??

More than 3,000 Startups Comprise the Fintech Ecosystem?

A new study by the IDB and Finnovista indicates that fintech ventures have grown by 340% over the past six years, representing more than 3,000 startups in Latin America and the Caribbean.??

This growth is due to high demand from financial consumers, the state of digital financial infrastructure, and the availability of a specialized workforce.??

Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia account for 57% of the companies, while Peru, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic have recorded the highest growth in the last two years.?

Population in favor of regional integration?

?

A new study by the IDB and Latinobarómetro shows that eight out of ten Latin Americans support the integration of their country with other countries in Latin America, a record number. In the population segments with complete university education, support reaches 87%.??

The study's results are based on more than 19,200 interviews conducted in 2023 with citizens from 17 countries in the region, aiming to reveal their opinions on regional integration, gender, technology, and the environment, among other topics.??
