Goodbye June - here in the UK you were a very rainy month! We've had some record breaking rainfall, all of which means, on the plus side, that the garden is looking very green and lush.
The rainy weather has meant lots of time indoors though - but that's okay, I've kept myself busy with chatting about lots of big-questions and issues with my good friend and fellow author, Rachel Davidson .
This month we have covered the topics of 'Sacrifice', 'Windfalls' and 'Are People Doing Their Best?'
SACRIFICE:
Our chat on Sacrifice was inspired by the 75th commemoration of the D-Day landings and this made me think about what those individuals had gone though. It was a point in time when many made the ultimate sacrifice in order to ensure the continuation of something that they thought important. We wanted to explore what this means, why such sacrifices are celebrated or revered and debate if sacrificing one's own life, dreams, opinion is always a good thing to do... It was an interesting discussion. You can watch the full video by clicking HERE.
WINDFALLS:
Next up was a discussion on the subject of Windfalls. Did you hear about the massive £120+million euro lottery win that some lucky person in the UK had won? Wow! Imagine waking up one day and being suddenly that rich. It would change your life forever. Now I say, "lucky" person, but the statistics on this are interesting - more often than not a massive amount of money landing in your lap suddenly has a rather negative effect in the long term. Which is interesting isn't it - because we're all guilty of wishing we could "just win the lottery" in the belief that it would "solve all our problems". So it seems that WINDFALLS are not always the fantastically great thing that they may first appear to be. You can watch the full video by clicking HERE.
ARE PEOPLE DOING THEIR BEST?:
This was a really interesting question to consider! Are people doing the best they can? Are you doing the best you can? For this chat I took inspiration from a discussion that I saw between the great Brene Brown and Russell Brand. They were discussing if they respectively held the belief that, on the whole, people are doing the best that they are capable of. This got me thinking about what it means to stand in judgement of another person, of how to live with healthy emotional and behavioral boundaries, and how to find greater compassion for my fellow human beings. In short it got me thinking if *I* am doing the best I can - so I decided to have a chat about it. You can watch the full video by clicking HERE.
So that was June! I'm really looking forward to July - I can't wait to find out what I am inspired to Genuinely-Chat about next! Watch this space to find out too!
