In the October Newsletter we dive into recent updates to AHA's heart health guidelines, explore reducing added sugar to support your health efforts, & share some exciting business news!
- Heart Health: Harvard Health just published a brief summary of the key changes made this summer to the American Heart Health Guidelines, now called the Life's Essential 8. Why care? Because heart disease is the leading cause of death in American adults and there are MANY lifestyle factors we can control to reduce our risk.?Key updates include Sleep Health?(newly added to guidelines), Diet?(greater emphasis on the DASH and Mediterranean eating patterns) and Smoking?(guidelines expanded to warn of the dangers posed by vaping and 2nd-hand smoke).
- Sugar: I've just released a new, complimentary mini coaching program to address one of the most common problems our private clients and SHC community members have brought forward: sugar! This 7-day self-led, on-demand program will help you reduce sugar cravings and mitigate the havoc added sugar has on your health. The benefit? Decreasing sugar consumption can improve current chronic disease symptoms and lower risk of future heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. Sign up today and nix the sugar!
- Pilates: Exciting news! Santana Health Coaching is now offering pilates 3 days a week. Our soft launch the past month was a huge success and I'm looking forward to supporting you in initiating, resuming or strengthening your pilates practice. Both private and duo sessions are available in person at my home studio (for those local to LaMorinda), online for virtual sessions, or at your SF east bay home gym. Book a session today (1st workout free) or learn more on our website.
- Recipes: Check out the newsletter for links to heart-healthy recipes, including a (very loose) take on picadillo in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
