This month at Buro Happold – October 2024
Welcome to our latest newsletter. In this month's issue, we look at highlights from October, including the opening of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, nature-related ESG risks, and a letter calling for a new era of climate leadership.
Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw opening
Last month the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw opened its doors, a project proudly engineered by Buro Happold's structural design and building services experts. The museum is a modern cultural landmark that transforms Warsaw’s urban landscape.
The day before there was a preview tour of the museum, which was brought to life by the accompanying artistic events. The atmosphere marked the beginning of a vibrant new chapter for the city’s cultural scene.
Building for the future
Colleagues from our Warsaw office participated in the 4FutureDay event, kicking off the next edition of the Builder for the Future programme. Together with architects Thomas Phifer and Partners, they shared their experiences related to the Museum of Modern Art project in Warsaw, which Buro Happold has been involved in for the past 10 years. Offstage, our team also had the opportunity to talk to young engineers about working in the construction industry and answer questions about career development opportunities.
Retrofit, refurbishment, restoration

BGA letter calls for a new era of UK climate leadership
Buro Happold is proud to have joined more than 50 businesses, investors and financial institutions in signing a letter to the UK Prime Minister, put forward by the BGA, urging the government to reassert its climate leadership on the world stage as the COP29 conference approaches.
Duncan Price, partner and global sustainability and climate lead for Buro Happold, said: “we are advising our clients on how they can turn their ambitious net zero goals into actionable strategies and effective implementation. This level of ambition needs to be matched by government together with a supportive policy environment in order to drive the necessary investment and deliver the business benefits.”
