What has been your favourite interior design project, or which current trend in interior design do you find most appealing?
“In the world of interior design, it’s challenging to spotlight just one inspiring trend or project. However, I’m drawn to the designs of Soho House for their contemporary approach to hospitality. I love how they create depth with the contrasting layers throughout each of their designs. The resurgence of the 70s aesthetic in interior design is another trend that has caught my attention. While maximalism is currently trending in the design scene, I have an appreciation for minimalist spaces that are executed well. The use of vibrant pops of colour or tones in furnishings is something I find important in unifying a room’s aesthetic in these minimalist spaces. In addition, I’ve been captivated by the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, an artist renowned for his fearless use of bold colours.”
What advice would you offer to someone aspiring to pursue a career in interior design?
“While a degree in Interior Design can open doors, work experience is often key to securing a role. Internships and studio experience are crucial, and networking is essential for career growth. Employers are keen to understand how candidates manage projects from inception to completion. They value hands-on project management, for example, FF&E scheduling, CAD drawings, elevations, and general arrangements. Proactively distributing your CV to local studios, reaching out via email or phone, and investing the effort to make yourself known in the industry are all essential steps. For those pursuing a degree in Interior Design, I recommend securing internships during academic breaks which will set you apart in this competitive field.”
Which software skills are currently the most in-demand within the field of Interior Design?
“Currently, there is a surge in demand for Revit skills within the interior design sector, mirroring its established dominance in architecture. Recent discussions with industry clients have revealed a significant shift towards 3D Revit, indicating a transformative trend in the professional landscape. While AutoCAD and Vectorworks maintain their popularity, AutoCAD remains the overall standard. However, given the accelerating demand for Revit skills, it’s conceivable that Revit could emerge as the new standard in the near future.”
What is something interesting or fun that others don’t know about you?
“I’m an avid outdoor enthusiast, preferring challenging mountain treks to beach days. My passion for extreme sports spans rock climbing to skateboarding, and I’m gearing up for a 50km Ultramarathon. Having trekked the Pyrenees and journeyed on foot from Germany to Austria, I’m now set to tackle the ‘Via Ferrata,’ a thrilling climb along a mountain face with a 2000-foot drop.”
How To Get Your Job Offer Accepted
How can you ensure that your top candidate will accept the job offer you’ve worked so hard to extend?
After dedicating considerable time and effort to the recruitment process for your job opening, you’ve pinpointed the ideal candidate for the position. You stand on the cusp of making a job offer that promises to secure their place within your company.
We are going to uncover many important elements about how to get your job offers accepted.
The speed of your job offers:
It is important to promptly inform the successful candidate of your intention to offer them the position to maintain their interest. A delay can increase the chances of the candidate attending other interviews and potentially receiving competing job offers.
The importance of getting your job offer right, the first time:
To enhance the chances of acceptance, tailor the offer to meet the candidate’s expectations and personal situation, guided by insights from your FRAME Recruitment consultant. Consider your budget and the unique benefits you provide to construct an offer that is ideally suited to the candidate’s individual needs.
Great candidates are in demand:
If your favourite candidate is interviewing with you, there is a chance that they are interviewing with other businesses too. If they are interviewing with other businesses and they are a great candidate, it is likely that this candidate will have other job offers under consideration.
No one wants to lose a great employee:
Likely, their current employer will not want to let them go. Whether it is because they will leave a huge knowledge gap in their team or because it will be hard to replace them, counteroffers are commonplace right now.
The candidate wants to get what they are worth:
In today’s candidate-driven market, individuals are unlikely to accept job offers that don’t match their self-recognised value, informed by the wealth of available data on salaries, benefits, and job listings.
The reality of changing jobs can be daunting:
Accepting a new job is a major life decision, often challenging due to loyalty to one’s current employer; however, a compelling offer can transform this apprehension into enthusiasm.
A salary is simply not enough anymore:
We are past the times when making an offer that includes just a salary is enough. People’s expectations have changed and have accelerated over the pandemic period. They want to see a package, not just a salary.
What to include in a job offer:
