Meet Sydney Mendenhall, our newest Commercial Account Executive:

Hi there! My name is Sydney and I live in Austin, TX. I graduated from Cal Poly SLO and have worked in the tech space for over 7 years, finally landing myself at Monte Carlo!?

What is your background prior to working for Monte Carlo?

Before joining the team at Monte Carlo, I worked in Sales at Oracle and Amplitude Analytics.

What are you passionate about outside of working for Monte Carlo?

My dog Honey, spending time with family/friends, golf, pickleball, walks/hikes, cooking, trying new restaurants, and reading.

How did you get interested in your field of work?

Both my parents are in sales so I grew up watching them. I naturally have always been a curious person and enjoy helping others. I tried a few different internships in college which helped validate that I wanted a more customer facing role and specifically in the tech industry. Trying different roles really helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses and what I enjoy.

If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be and why?

Caring - I had a time answering this but I asked some of my close friends and family for their take.

I genuinely care deeply about others and want those around me to be happy and successful.

One of our company’s values is “beat the odds.” What does “beat the odds” mean to you?

Push on - maintain an optimistic attitude, consider every angle, seek others/help, and don’t give up!

If you could pause your life for just one moment, what moment would that be and why?

Interesting question. I’m such a planner and always looking forward, something I’m challenging myself with is to be more present… So in light of that, I would pause my life now to really enjoy this day.

How do you recharge?

I’m an extroverted introvert. Time to myself. Reading, watching mindless/trashy TV, a walk, yoga, or a massage.

Why did you choose to work for Monte Carlo?

I was incredibly impressed with our product and appreciated the problem we’re solving. Coming from an analytics company, I really understood and empathized with customers who struggled with making product decisions with unreliable data. I was excited to join a company that was solving a problem I was familiar with and could have a widespread positive impact within a company.?

The People. Everyone around me is super sharp, incredibly humble, and more than willing to help. The interview process was super thoughtful and sealed the deal for me as I knew I could uplevel my skill set just by learning from those around me.

What’s the one takeaway you want people to know about you?

I’d love to meet you!! It can be challenging to create/maintain relationships in a remote work setting - I’m super friendly, please don’t hesitate to say hi. :) And if you’re in the Austin area, I challenge you to a round of pickleball!
