Time is one of the most precious resources we have, and yet it often feels like the one we lack the most. We rush through our days, balancing work, life, obligations, and the constant feeling that there are never enough hours to do it all. We dream of what it would be like to have more time, perhaps even the power to travel through time like Doctor Who—free from the limitations that bind us, able to shape our days as we see fit.

But maybe it's not about having more time. Maybe it's about how we USE the time we already have. Doctor Who might seem so balanced because he can travel through time, but perhaps his true secret lies in prioritizing the moments that matter, letting go of what he can't control, and embracing the present fully. For us, it means rethinking our relationship with time—learning when to push forward and when to take a breath, to pause and be mindful.

Finding balance is not about squeezing more into every day; it's about making each moment count. It’s about knowing when to plan, when to let go, and when to share responsibilities with others. It’s about understanding that taking time for yourself—to breathe, reflect, and be present—is just as important as any task on your to-do list. Time may be finite, but our capacity to live meaningfully is not.

So let’s take a moment to appreciate the time we have, to make room for what truly matters, and to remind ourselves that we are not defined by how much we can do, but by how we choose to spend our moments.

Time Travelling Monster: The Inspiration Behind the New Challenge

This week's #SaturdayMonsterChallenge theme, "Time Travelling Monster," is all about exploring the limitless possibilities of imagination when we take a monster and give it the power to move through time. Time travel has always been a captivating concept—whether it's the idea of visiting the past to see what life was like, or venturing into the future to catch a glimpse of what's yet to come. By adding a monster into the mix, we blend the thrill of adventure with the fantastical, creating a theme that is both exciting and full of narrative potential.

I chose this theme because time travel allows us to stretch our creativity in every direction. What would a monster look like if it traveled to the age of the dinosaurs, or perhaps the distant future with advanced technology? What kind of adventures might it have, and how would it adapt to the different eras it visits? This theme invites us to imagine monsters as both explorers and agents of change, wandering through the fabric of time with unique motivations and stories to tell.

"Time Travelling Monster" is also about playing with the concept of time itself. In a world where we often feel bound by the clock, the idea of a monster with the freedom to step in and out of different time periods is liberating. It represents the fantasy of escaping time's limitations and experiencing moments outside of our usual perspective. Whether the monsters are humorous, wise, mischievous, or fierce, the theme encourages us to think beyond the present moment and explore the magic of the past and future.

It was incredible to see the creativity each of you brought to this challenge—monsters appearing in ancient history, futuristic cities, or pivotal moments in time. Your creations showed us that even the wildest of creatures can be woven into the story of time, making the past and future come alive in unexpected and imaginative ways.

Look at this Monsters!

I want to take a moment to highlight some of the amazing artists in our Monster Community. Here, I am thrilled to introduce three fantastic AI artists who have contributed incredible creations to the "Time Travelling Monster" theme, each bringing their unique perspective and style to life.

• Surfing Savage: In this image by Laura Serrano I Realizadora audiovisual , a mischievous, time-traveling monster stands proudly on a beach, holding a brightly colored surfboard. Its vibrant turquoise fur, fiery orange mohawk, and toothy grin exude chaotic energy, while its tribal companions linger ominously in the background. Scattered bones and skulls suggest that this monster’s idea of a surf trip spans not only eras but also realms, blending prehistoric grit with modern-day adventure. The image totally catched me, all, the colors, the cool surf monster surrounded by the stone age people and otherwise desolate surroundings, where only the monster brings the color impulses. Thanks a lot Laura!

• Cyber Arachnid: Israel Ayliffe 's image showcases a massive, mechanical spider towering over a futuristic cityscape. Its glowing red eyes radiate menace, and its legs, crafted from glimmering metal, leave deep imprints as it moves. A lone figure with a spear stands defiantly below, creating a sense of timeless battle. This cybernetic monster seems to have traveled back to rewrite history with its overwhelming power, merging technology with terror. As I'm currently in an intense Perry Rhodan phase, this picture absolutely transported me into the adventures of the Star Wanderer. Great style, great colors, great work. Thank you Israel, not only for this image, but much more for your current intensive explorations in the field of generative AI! It's exciting to accompany you on your journey!

• Galactic Detective: In this image by Kartal D. , a green-skinned alien stands confidently in front of a blue "police box," an unmistakable nod to the iconic TARDIS from Doctor Who. Her sleek outfit and piercing gaze suggest she could be a time-traveling investigator or even a new companion in the Doctor’s adventures. The subtle scales on her head and her enigmatic expression add an alien charm, aligning perfectly with the show's tradition of blending the extraordinary with the familiar. This scene reimagines the Doctor Who universe, hinting at a fresh twist on the timeless sci-fi classic. My heart, as a huge Doctor Who fan, jumped very high when I saw this image. Thank you so much for your continuous great posts and artworks Kartal and for the constant inspiration!

Creating the Cover Image

Creating this week's image was really fun. The idea came quickly and I have to say I liked the result! I wanted a monster in the 80s style, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and standing completely perplexed in a time in which it doesn't belong. The most difficult part was getting the facial expressions right, as the AI is usually keen to generate rather expressionless photo shoot faces or strongly emotional (happy, laughing, sad) facial expressions. I found it particularly helpful to describe the situation and emotions rather than the facial expression itself. Flux seems to be better at depicting characters in scenes through emotional descriptions, whereas close-ups can of course go into more detail.

• Sketching: Try out different styles, different details and different environments and customize your prompt as you go. I like using DALL-E Open Ai, as you can build on the previous prompt and refine it in a conversation. This week, different from the previous editions, I used mainly Seelab.ai to create my cover image. The tool is very intuitive with a stylish user interface and lots of integrated help for operation. The integration of Flux and various pre-trained LoRas improves the quality of the images. I'm still in the early stages of testing, but so far I'm more than satisfied. Flux for me personally is very good for sketching, as it is super fast and the prompt structure absolutely corresponds to my AI language.
• Style reference: Use previously created images as Style reference and integrate the style into your new image, if you like the style, but the motif is not 100% what you wanted. Iterate here and come closer to what you imagine. This is, more or less and as I understood, what Midjourney does with its --sref function.
• Upscaling: Upscaling gives the picture the finishing touch. This improves the quality and takes the picture to a higher level.
• Full Prompt: A typical medieval scene. A medieval market in a castle, everything is dirty, chaotic and coarse. Knights and poor people run around. A creepy disgusting leathery monster with sunglasses, a cap, a Hawaiian shirt and chino pants and white sneaker stands confused in the middle of the image. It seems frightened and wonders how it got there, while the people are quite normal and relaxed.
