I just happen to see a news that Mono Rail in Mumbai is held midway because of power cut. By just hearing this, quickly my mind asked - "Shouldn't it be part of basic and fundamental acceptance criteria?". How come this is not thought of, when we are in the decade old idea of having an elevator, with minimum people carrying it, has got the feature to bring itself to the nearby floor during power cut. Isn't this Mono rail be carrying more than people in an elevator?
Another surprise to me was the way the mono rail pathway construction is done. I could not see any pathway built for people to even walk over to escape in case of such sudden halt of train or any other mishap. These were really thought of?
This cannot be agreed upon "known issues" even if we quote that mono rail project is a highly complex project.
Now, the question on executing a Project is not whether it is done in Agile way or Waterfall way. Is it done to meet its need, all the time?

9 年Well thought out detailing. I think part of the problem from the start-up phase is Leadership crisis. Delhi Metro was lucky to have Mr. Sridharan to lead at that time. Cultivating the habit of implementing ever evolving best practices is another way to avoid such mishaps.
