Monitoring Line Isolation Remotely - Increasing safety, reducing cost & time

Carber's RMU (remote monitoring unit) by converting analog pressure to digital electronic signal delivered away from job site, enables our clients to increase safety while reducing cost and time for doing line isolation work.

  • Measures vent pressure & seal pressure and display as red / green light.
  • Two LED provided start flashing locally in case pressure exceeds the set point.
  • SACDA / Data logger can remotely record for certifying seal.
  • One technician can now monitor multiple isolation tools working away from job site (expensive real estate).

Opinion: Not a good idea for many reasons. One of the reasons that the intimate "at location" monitoring was accepted by welders was that the Carber technician would be right there with the welder, insuring that the installation and monitoring were done properly because the technician had a vested interest in following the procedure. Furthermore, the proximity of the technician right there with the welder insured that the technician could react to an issue instantly and without delay. What welder is going to be comfortable with a technician monitoring multiple locations from a remote location? What happens if there is an issue at two locations at once? What happens to the other isolation locations while a technician has left the post to deal with an issue at an isolation location? How quickly can a technician respond to an issue and stop welding/evacuate the welder from an area if there is an issue?
