GOOGLE TRIES TO TAKE ON APPLE & AMAZON
The new Pixel 2 comes with a 5.5 inch screen and will have many of the same features as its predecessor, but the XL option sports a larger 6-inch display with an almost bezel-less screen. At $649 and $849 respectively, they are cheaper than the latest iPhone offerings. Google also announced the "Home Mini," the company's answer to Amazon's "Dot." The digital assistant will carry a $49 price tag. The new products fall into what CEO Sundar Pichai calls an "A.I.-first world." The exec took the stage at the top of the event, saying "computers should adapt to how people live their lives, rather than people having to adapt to computers."
UBER'S BOARD MAKES BIG MOVES
It unanimously approved a series of corporate level changes intended to spread power between its shareholders. It will add six new directors, three of whom will have no affiliation with the company. The company will also eliminate so called "supervoting rights," weakening the influence of former CEO Travis Kalanick. Uber's board also approved SoftBank's multi-billion dollar investment. The Japanese conglomerate is investing at least a billion dollars at the company's latest valuation of about $68 billion and could buy up to $9 billion more from existing shareholders at a discount.

The company now says all 3 billion accounts were impacted in the 2013 breach, triple the number Yahoo initially claimed were compromised. Hackers stole usernames, passwords, telephone numbers, and dates of birth. The new disclosure comes amid a spate of several other major cyberattacks, which have put focus on big companies' security vulnerabilities.
