Money Talk on RTHK Radio 3 - Thursday 13 July 2017

Emails from Donald Trump’s eldest son have sent shockwaves through Washington. They show that Donald trump Jr. was keen to accept an apparent offer of help from the Russian government to boost his father’s Presidential campaign. The impact on markets has been minimised by news that the US Senate will delay the start of its summer recess by 2 months to try and pass a healthcare bill. Investors are anxiously waiting for the Trump administration to get its reform and tax cutting agenda back on track.

Here in Hong Kong, stocks are on track for their best week in 4 months. The Hang Seng Index powered through 26,000 in morning trading boosted by banks and technology shares. Tencent, HSBC and Geely Automobile have helped the index to gains of more than 18% so far this year.

Joining Thursday’s Money Talk to analyse the latest business and finance headlines are Enzio von Pfeil of Odyssey Capital and Rob Koepp of The Economist Corporate Network. Ross Darrell Feingold, of DC International Advisory will give us his analysis of the latest developments in Washington.

In the second half of the programme we shall discuss the trend towards electronic or cashless payments with Alex Kong, Founder and CEO of TNG Wallet. We shall also kick off our weekly look at Emerging and Frontier Markets with a focus on Vietnam. Nitin Dialdas, CIO of Mandarin Capital will provide his view.
