MONEY IN POLITICS By Marick F. Masters
Money in Politics is a biweekly newsletter on the role of money in federal and state elections. This issue focuses on the types of money in federal elections--Hard, Soft/Outside, Dark, and Super PACs. It reports data on trends in expenditures, who are the leading donors, and who are the major contributors. We have seen a sizable increase in spending on federal elections. But let's put these numbers in perspective relative to the size of the nation's GDP and the federal budget. Government costs a lot of money and people are willing to pay for a share of this expanding pie. Solving the scope of money in politics requires addressing the magnitude of government involvement through spending and regulation. See the link below for the text of MONEY IN POLITICS.
