Money Matters Issue # 41
Melvin D'lima
I help Dentists increase monthly income by 20%, break free from paycheck-to-paycheck stress, leave bad debt behind and save 50% more to achieve financial freedom and family security,
We all feel like impostors sometimes. The world and individual life is categorized into the normal and abnormal. Both extremes have ranges and even mixed normal-abnormal variations. Thus a normal clinic could have high patient numbers but low profit margins and vice versa. You choose which side of the profit and sustainability divide, from which to serve. Banish the thought that you are an impostor. You are in the right place in dentistry/life. To prove the point you are on this page right now. I feel privileged and honored to command your attention span for a few minutes of your precious time.
This week I am grateful that I got a couple of dentists and dental practice managers to think more about their Unique Value Proposition and growing their ability to handle their emotions at work and in the wider world. Despite all the turmoil around us we must keep our heads about us, focused on our goals which are to grow our impact and influence in the marketplace. It was very easy, this week, to be disheartened by the outcome of some legal battles that have been playing out in our courts of law and government. In the case of KMA vs KRA the learned Judge deferred his judgment on application of eTIMS to Doctors Invoices to July 2024; In the case of salaries of dental, medical and pharmacy interns - the Chairman of the Government Salaries Remuneration Commisssion, SRC has pegged salaries of interns at KES 70,000 or USD 524 per month before hefty taxes, despite a court order barring any such salary determination. The KMA appeal on this issue will come before Court on Monday April 22, 2024. Any dentist should stay focused on their short and medium term goals especially in the areas of career, personal finance, family and relationships and spirituality. The cost of all these goals will keep increasing but what gets written down gets done. This week Cohort 2 of the Aligning for Success in the dental industry program completed their final session - their goals have changed during the course and now they have clarity about where they want their dental careers to head and they are doing things to actualize those goals. I feel really proud of all of them.

We join other Kenyans in mourning the passing on of Gen Francis Ogolla and 9 other military personnel in a helicopter crash on Thursday April 18, 2024. The accident is baffling but we will not speculate as we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, armed forces and people of Kenya. It is well. R.I.P Sir and all the other officers who passed on so tragically.
