With reference to my post of yesterday-"You could NOT make it up", the water companies have underlined my point. Having paid their shareholders a staggering ￡1.4 billion in 2022- up from ￡540m in 2021, they now have the unbelievable nerve to tell the consumers "Er you will have to pay for the clean up of the mess we created". Decades of under-investment and truly obscene salaries and dividends resulted in the dangerous pollution of our rivers. In the apposite words of te front page "Metro" the free newspaper " ￡10bn Dirty Trick"
