When I first heard GPT-4o's voices, I noticed they all came from white folks, with no minority representation. I figured that would be a big controversy, not a Scarlett Johansson-like voice, Sky.
Anyhow, I imagine that very soon, AI voices will be monetized to mimic celebrities' voices. I am pretty sure that celebrity fans wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks for their AI assistants to speak to them in the voice of their favorite celebrity. For instance, Barry White fans would probably love their AI assistants to speak to them in his smooth, soulful voice.
This should translate to more money for the artist community, not just for voice work but for everything else. For example:
I would be willing to pay a few extra bucks or more, depending on how much I wanted those AI assistant customizations and art.
@OpenAI should be reaching out to artists, if they aren't already, to set up an artist store similar to the concepts used by iTunes and Spotify. In the long run, artists will greatly benefit from it. Make love not war.
