Monetize Your In Demand Skills By Building a Team Like You

If you, like me, have an in demand skill that you want to monetize, the best way to go is build a team who can do what you do so you can expand your influence and exponentially grow your profits.

Building teams is one of those skills that I have that is in demand. I have consistently enjoyed success in not only building my own businesses, but for dozens of my clients as well.

One of the best pieces of advice that I ever received, was from a mentor advising me on how to get my new business off the ground. He told me that to grow my business, I needed to find 2–3 people who could become my disciples. People that I could train to do parts of what I did to free me up to do things only I could do.

That lessons has stuck with me and I have had a lot of success in not only growing my initial business (analytics training), but also my subsequent businesses (call center, virtual staffing and business coaching). I have also empowered dozens of clients to do the same. To build a team of experts around themselves. A few weeks back, I dropped a YouTube video about this part of my story. So, if you have an in demand skill you want to monetize like me, the best way to go is build a team who can do what you do so you can expand your influence and exponentially grow your profits.

Expanding your influence is more than just marketing. You need to have a team that can influence in your name, using your voice and growing your network. This is what my mentor told me back at the start of my entrepreneurial journey. So my first two hires where virtual assistants who could market our business in social media, by creating and sharing content and engaging with our potential clients.

Recognizing that I alone could only do so much, and that only with the help of others could I elevate my message to a higher level… THIS was most important choice I made in business.

Exponential growth comes from systems. That you need to first set up a series of business systems (marketing, finance, HR, etc) that reflect how you want your business to be when it hits its peak. As you have this framework, you start bringing in people who can implement the systems without your active involvement.

And then you have to turn over the keys to the kingdom. You have to empower those on your team to not only implement your systems, but you also have to empower these rock stars to develop and implement their own systems.

Let that one sink in.

To monetize what you do best, to scale it into a full fledged business, you need to surround your self with a team of experts. Ones who start as mini versions of you, but with the end goal of having them do their own thing within the general framework of what you started.

And this is the challenge, most entrepreneurs can never imagine giving up total control. They struggle with delegation and never free up enough of their time to really get anything done.
