I've had a blast writing this sequence so far. What's been your takeaway? I hope you've been inspired, I sure have, even as I've been writing it!
This week I listened to Jen Gitomer's?podcast episode?about VIP days and decided to create one of my own. I'm partnering with?Lucas Marino?to help aspiring author-course creators go from blank page to clarified book idea and plan + course concept and plan. In less than 36 hours, we'll be able to accomplish what it normally takes weeks to do. If 2023 is the year you want to put both a book and a course into the world, and?monetize them?like crazy, I have something coming that might be for you. Stay tuned!
Exciting, right? I never run out of ideas, I only run out of daylight. So let me stop sharing ideas (I'll get back to that next week, I promise) and take a few minutes to help you (a) capture your ideas and (b) know what to do next.
I always have?so many ideas.?They never stop! I'm grateful to be an idea machine (read?this?and?this?if you want to become one, too). I capture my ideas in two different ways: I have an idea board in my office with sticky notes. One word or sentence is all I need. I also have a notebook in Evernote titled IDEAS. Each idea is a document (book titles, income stream ideas, exercises to do and ideas to share with my?mastermind, and more) or even a folder with documents (such as: fiction, nonfiction, live events, etc.). I've gotten pretty good at sticking with my current WIP (work-in-progress) while capturing ideas as they come.
The second part is a little more tricky. I'll probably need to expand on this at some point, but for now, here's a process you can follow:
*Schedule a planning session.?I do my annual planning in November—so I can first block off vacations/recharge time, other commitments,?and?identify available time.
*Review the ideas you've captured.?What are the time and revenue commitments needed? How long until I realize an ROI?

*Run them through these filters:
- How excited am I about this idea??If I'm not a 9 or 10 on the enthusiasm scale, it's not the right idea or the right time to execute on it.
- Does it fit into what I'm doing? Is it complementary or a completely new direction??I wasn't planning on doing a Mastermind in 2019, but in Q4 when I hit upon the idea and put it into practice I jumped on it. It's been amazing, but it really took until Year 2 before I realized a solid return on my time investment.
- Do I have the resources (time, money, support) to work on it (or, do I need to focus on something else that may produce revenue faster?)?Never rely solely on a new offer to replace a significant portion of your income or what you need to survive. See my previous point.
- Is there anything else I need to consider, such as: would it make sense to do something else first or at the same time?
I hope this helps you think through some of your past and current ideas, and manage those that come in the future. Have a great weekend and I'll see you again Monday.
P.S. Have you had any awesome ideas yet? I'd love to hear this is helping you!
