Monday tip... sacrifice is part of the game...
Welcome to another Monday, and that means a business tip.
How about we talk about sacrifice today, a word that has lost meaning in recent years. Why do I say that? Look around you and you will see business owners and salespeople that are not making the sacrifices needed to exceed their goals and live their best lives.
First let me say that I understand everyone has their own business plan, and different priorities that drive them. But the reality is that success requires sacrifice, and not everyone is willing to make it.
Clients deserve your best, and sometimes that means sacrificing your time. If you are in a customer facing business I certainly do not mean you should let your clients walk all over you. But putting your clients needs first is the nature of most of our jobs. Here are a few examples of things I don't understand..

I know that family matters, your faith matters, hobbies matter... but if you make your living from clients then they matter as well. Work life balance is hard, sometimes it gets out of alignment sometimes. But client's needs matter as well.
Working long hours happens, sometimes you need to miss dinner. Fast food is part of sales, as is our phones ringing after 5. I recently heard a lender say they did not answer their phone after 5 or on weekends because they deserve personal time. I wanted to ask them if their client deserved access to their lender, but stayed silent.
If you watch people failing to hit goals around you, it is rarely the person who works long hours, provides a high level of service to their clients and sacrifices. Success is there in front of us, but there are prices to pay. Will you pay them?
