Last week I posted the top image after I received a phone call suggesting it might not be a good idea to pen a Chapter for the book I was invited to be a part of. It seems that there are people who are concerned that writing about the journey and the impact of my journey may not help others. The caller didn't mention anything in particular; just that I needed to make sure that ..... The truth is over the last short space in time I have written just under 7000 words about the journey I am on. Some part of it are still very raw even all this time later, I also admit I have written in such a manner as to protect people who I love.
What I think the caller was concerned about was what I could say on top of what I have already written and Reported to the required people. As I said to the caller, I have already had a Confidential Report leaked and that I fully expect that I will be required to speak to that Report at some stage. If others are concerned then so be it, there is nothing I can or will do to withdraw what has already been presented; what I have seen and what I know impacts the injured worker community. I did consider posting here a radio interview I did in regards to one such issue, however LinkedIn doesn't allow the posting of an audio file.
This selection of words comes from the Chapter I have written. I have sent the Chapter to be edited then I will invite some people to write a short Review for the Chapter which I have titled "It's just what I do or right hand adequate" I am not sure I could ever write the complete journey, just this Chapter opened memories I would have preferred not to have visited again.
On to more important things ?? There is nothing more that Craig's Table enjoys than helping to set things in place for members of the injured worker community. Over the last week it has been a real pleasure to start the process required to place people into programmes that will lead them to open employment and at the same time assist a small employer. As for 3 others from the injured worker community starting the process of unravelling what was considered to be too complicated.
Last week this question was posed "Workers’ comp: Does the system do harm?"
I reposted the article on Workers Compensation Australia I answered the question with yes the process does harm in ways that have never been researched. It still astounds me that a guesstimated 87,500 people sustain an accepted compensable injury every year but no one has looked into the actual impact that workers compensation process has not just on the person with the injury but on the wider community. No one knows what to discuss in regards to domestic violence or personal poverty. The 1994 Industry Commission speaks openly about concerns of cost shifting and lack of superannuation payments for the injured worker community. It also concerns me that no one has looked at intergenerational impact of a workers compensation claim.
As you can read here part of my response is that the injured worker community require a Federal Senator to take on the challenges that are well known just never discussed.
