Before I start I want to bring you up to date with Brendan Clark who I wrote about last week. I had a quick chat with Brendan on Thursday, he is out of hospital and learning how to live his new life, At this stage Corey and I will go up for a visit mid to late August.
Speaking of Corey I need to say thank you to him. These last few weeks have been a tad challenging with endless hours of documentation needed to be put together in order for a formal report to be written. That has meant Corey has gone back over the last 20 months of Craig's Table and revisited the names of each referral and each participant and each Member of the A Team. Each name has a story a person a humanity that brings up a vast
array of emotions, everything from frustration through to joy and beyond. Corey is the one who for the most part walked this trip down memory lane on his own, it has not been easy at times because the story behind the name is still very relevant and still vital. There are times when just doing this work hits at an emotional level, when that happens Corey needs to be supported just the same as everyone else. I know that I have relied on him a great deal this year and as my workload increases I will continue to rely on Corey even more. Thanks is really not enough, but for now it is all I have.
While I am at it, I also want to thank Toni
In all the right ways, Toni has become "part of the furniture" at Craig's Table. Toni takes the participants through Emotional Intelligence in an all encompassing manner, and then on the weeks when the course isn't running Toni just turns up on Thursdays to just run the conversation group with whoever is there. It is wonderful just watching as Craig's Table expands to bring in people such as Toni who just want to be there and just want to help in ways that are solid.
Last week the first sign of spring arrived with the flowering of the first of the numerous daffodil bulbs that are scattered throughout the community garden. Each week there are a few winter strawberries as well that add a touch of colour and are enjoyed by those who are fortunate enough to get one or two before the local gecko family enjoys the fruit.
"Every action thought and feeling is motivated by intention; and that intention is a cause that exists as one with an effect. You cannot participate in the cause without participating in the effect" Gary Zukav Just recently I was chatting with the Marksman in regard to a committee that I have been invited to be a part of. I know that I am
more than capable of doing the work that this committee will require, it is just the importance of the committee that had me a tad blindsided. The last time I worked on such an important committee was when we had the Injured Worker Focus Group.
It was an amazing time, a time when the injured worker community had a voice at the table of decision making.
As directed by the Marksman I revisited the records of the Injured Worker Focus Group, I read once more the make up of the Group and the tasks we undertook to ensure clarity and outcomes in ways that had not been done before.
Hindsight is such an amazing tool to use, hindsight gifted me more than just the revision of achievements for the injured worker community, it also gifted me a small glimpse at the journey that has been taken to now arrive at this new committee. Thus I am wondering what is coming over the hill and around the bend, this journey really is one filled with endless surprises and endless opportunity to widen the path for more of the injured worker community. On a personal note I am getting to work with some awesome industry leaders and at the same time adding to the knowledge that will grow Craig's Table.
I opened up with an update of of Brendan, before I close for the week I have to add my congratulations to Dylan Alcott. I am just sorry that I didn't get to watch the tennis match live it would have been great to have cheered Dylan on.
And now it is time to have some dinner, I am officially on a weeks holiday which translates to longer coffee breaks and not quite so many appointments this week. (Lisa stop rolling your eyes.)
Yours in service
