Hello and happy Monday,
Welcome to another YOU GOT THIS! Newsletter.
While you are reading this, I am at the Costa Etrusca in Italy, taking a family vacation at an agriturismo we have known for years. Recharge batteries, refresh and collect memories, and enjoy life!
My newsletter is delayed due to the trip (network issues), so I'd like to share these three topics with you in today’s edition of my newsletter:
?? My latest learning: How to change your life!
?? Career Inspiration: You are great, remember that!
?? Female Leadership: how to manage the outsider in the team?
Have a wonderful week.
Best Regards, Katharina
?? My latest learning: How to change your life!
I want to change my life! Knowing that you want to change something is easy.
Implementing the change - and doing so sustainably - is less so. So many tasks. There are so many ways to optimize ourselves. Today, I'm not sharing an overnight hack with you.
Instead, I have a 3-step process accompanying me in all my changes.
Intention ?? Emotion ?? Action
Whether I want to start meditating daily again, prepare my newsletters before Sunday evening, or be more patient with my daughters.
These three steps help me to achieve my goal.
?? Have an intention. What exactly do you want to change? What does your goal picture look like? Be as specific as possible. Because without a clear intention, we are easily distracted. Take the time to formulate exactly what you want to achieve.
Please write it down and visualize it. Imagine that you have already reached your goal. What would your life look like then?
Example: I want to meditate every day. My intention: I meditate every morning for 15 minutes. I sit in my living room and listen to a meditation on YouTube. Then I start my day with focus and calmness.
?? Connect with the emotion. Building an emotional connection is essential once you have clearly defined your goal. Take a few minutes every day to visualize your goal in detail. Feel the joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction that comes with it. How does your goal state feel? What emotions do you want to anchor in your life?
Example: I want to meditate every day. I feel calm inside. I am proud of myself because I prioritize what is good for me. I feel a connection to myself through meditation.
?? Action Without action, the best intention remains just a dream. Could you break down your goal into smaller, achievable steps? What can you do today to get closer to your goal? What weekly or monthly milestones can you set?
You can adjust your plan if something doesn't work as you expected. The most important thing is that you keep at it—and even if things don't go well for a few days, keep reconnecting with your intentions and emotions. Journaling prompt: Imagine you have already achieved your goal. What first steps have you taken?
Example: I want to meditate every day. Prepare everything in the living room in the evening (put headphones & blanket down). Set the alarm clock to 06:00 every day. Start meditation at 06:15. Search for meditation on YouTube
We need an inner upgrade if we want to change something in our lives.
I wouldn't say I like getting up at 06:00 every day. I want to press the snooze button. I sometimes find it challenging to focus my thoughts in meditation. All of this is on one side of the scale.
To stick to my agreement on more than just day 1 and day 2, I need a clear idea of what I want to achieve and why it's important. This then goes on the other side of the scale and helps me to stick to my agreement even when I don't feel like it.
What change would you like to initiate? What is your intention ?? emotion ??action? Feel free to reply to this email and talk about it!
Here's to a life that FEELS as good as it looks!
?? Hit reply and say ‘hi’?
I would love to hear from you. What do YOU want from a newsletter like this? How can I help you with your career and leadership journey?
Just let me know. Your message will go right into my inbox.
?? Career Inspiration: You are great, remember that!
Take time every day to think about how great you are.
Think about how valuable you are.?
Think about what a great mom you are.
Think about how great you are in your business.?
Think about what a great partner, friend, and daughter you are.
I know that sounds boastful to many of us and makes us uncomfortable.?
We've learned not to talk about ourselves like that and to be more modest.?
It's probably not ladylike. I could put it that way.
And I would like to encourage you to do that.
If you believe in yourself, you are convinced of yourself.?
When you think amazing, wonderful, and valuable things about yourself, you live a more confident life.?
You are ready to say no.?

You are ready to say yes.?
You are striving for greatness in your life.
You put yourself, your wishes, and your dreams first.
This is because you believe and trust in yourself at heart.?
And everyone has access to these thoughts. Some of us are just more practiced than others. They are ready to feel unpleasant feelings when they think positively about themselves.
In coaching, we work on naming your values and giving you confidence in yourself, your choices, and your priorities.
You are great, remember that! If you want to put first, feel free to schedule a discovery call with me ???? here.
?? Female Leadership: how to manage the outsider in the team?
It is not uncommon when I work with leaders and their teams that at some point during the preparation stage, they say something along the lines of "I am a bit worried about how xyz will take this on board.", "You will probably notice that xyz has a bit of a difficult relationship with the rest of the team.", or "xyz is always a bit negative and brings the mood down."
You have probably experienced a team before with one person who was a bit different from the rest.
Or maybe you have managed a group before and have encountered this one person who was challenging to manage.
Don't worry, this is normal. Teams are complex. They are made up of individuals with different values, good and bad experiences, expectations, backgrounds, and ways of working.
We are different, and not everyone will become best friends on a team. And I don't believe we are supposed to. But what I do believe is that there is power in our differences.
Even the people you feel irritated by have the potential to be great partners in a project or on a team. What it comes down to is taking the time to really understand why they do what they do. What shapes their thinking and actions? What motivates them? What drives them?
The positive intent of the strengths-development angle will help you and the person to stay open and receptive.
Because people's talents constantly influence their interactions, decisions, and activities, it is not uncommon for others to misread them, especially when they have different strengths.
People can even have negative misperceptions of strength when it is not intentionally used or overused.
This can lead to others devaluing a person's strengths and actions and even judging or labeling them as the "difficult ones."
Consequently, the individual might disconnect from the group and retract themselves even more.
What you can do to help yourself bring the team closer together and grow relationships is to help people become more aware of their own and everyone else's talents. Help them see the value they each bring and learn to appreciate the strengths the others bring to the team.
The differences are their advantage as a team.
They don't have to become friends, but they can learn to lead with positive intent and appreciate one another. They can learn to adapt their communication and collaboration to play to each other's strengths.
A strengths-based team is a group of imperfect but talented contributors valued for their strengths and learning to work together to realize their goals.
And don't forget, the "difficult" person is often just someone who is misunderstood and not seen for their strengths.
As a leader, I invite you to challenge yourself to look at them differently and focus on what is right with them instead of what is wrong.
If you want support to bring your team closer together or understand how to see everyone for their strengths and what they contribute, feel free to reach out whenever you feel ready. I can help you with a strength-based team development approach. Together, we can develop strategies for you to manage every team member effectively (even the tricky ones) and help your team build stronger relationships. Feel free to schedule a discovery call with me ???? here.
