Monday Motivation: Go! Kick the Blues to the Curb!

Mondays. They get to all of us … even virtual assistants. We had that fantastic weekend that went way too fast and now have to stare bleakly into the face of an entire 5 day work week. We know how hard it can be to get going, even if you like working in your business. Nothing quite compares to the weekend, am I right?

Pft! I love Mondays! Love, love, love them! Why?

  • Each and every Monday is another opportunity to make my clients’ lives better.
  • It is another opportunity to set and achieve new goals.
  • It is an opportunity to make the week great!

So you’re probably wondering how to shake off those Monday Blues and get motivated to work. Here are seven ways to do just that.

1. Tell Yourself That This Is What You Want To Do

This is probably the easiest step you can take towards self-motivation. Take a step back and look at the work you have to do, then tell yourself that it isn’t so bad and that you don’t mind doing it really.

Take what seems like a difficult task and think of it as simple and easy. Break it down, you know what you’re doing, then tell yourself that you won’t have any problems doing it then get to work.

Sometimes the “getting started” part is the hardest thing. Once you’re into your tasks, time will zing by ??

2. Take Charge

With so much going on in our personal and professional lives, it’s easy to be overwhelmed and stick yourself in a rut with a massive lack of motivation. It’s important to keep in mind that while you can’t control the amount of stress and work to be done, you can take charge of your own life and be in control of your actions.

3. Be Around Other Hard Working People

It is much easier to accomplish goals when you are surrounded by others with similar goals or who are encouraging you to work hard at what you’re doing.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to physically be around others. Even virtual friends who work hard, lead by example, influence and make an impact on you can make all the difference in the world.

It can also be friends that you meet up with later that are working just as hard, as long as you have some kind of positive influence surrounding and encouraging you, you’re on the right track.

4. Take A Large Task and Break it Into Smaller Ones

When you break your work up into parts, you can take a look at what you need to do and make a game plan.

Once you’ve completed each and every task, it isn’t important just to check it off your list, but also look how far you’ve come and celebrate yourself. You did it!

5. Keep Your Eye On The Prize

How can you keep motivated to keep on keeping on if you can’t even focus on what you were working on?

Eliminate outside distractions while you work. Put your Skype, Hangouts, etc. to offline, turn off email notifications and let everyone know you won’t be taking any calls.

If everyone is used to you constantly answering them or replying to messages, you’ll have to change that because you won’t get much peace any other way.

6. Don’t Forget Why You’re Doing This

Virtual assistants have the best job in the world .. and yes, I might be biased ??

There isn’t anything to put a little pep in your step quite like remembering why you’re doing the work to begin with. Whatever reason you have, whether it be passion for your creation or the ability to make money for your family, your Why is important and will keep you going like the steam never ran out.

7. Keep Positive

There will be a time in all of our lives when we fail to accomplish a task, but it isn’t the failure that defines us. How you handle failure is far more important than the failure itself.

No matter the discouraging words around you, keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t give up and don’t let the success of those around you discourage you.

Always remember … keep moving forward.
Confidence will get you far and having high self-esteem will increase your chances of being able to keep motivated in whatever you’re doing.

You got this!
