Monday Motivation - Every Day is an Extra Day
In his late teens, Star Wars creator George Lucas had a terrible car accident that he was lucky to survive.
As he reflected on this experience, he said,
“I realised more than anything else what a thin thread we hang on in life and I really wanted to make something out of my life.
I was in an accident that, in theory, no one could survive, so it was like, ‘Well, I’m here, and every day now is an extra day. I’ve been given an extra day so I’ve got to make the most of it. And then the next day I began with two extra days.’
You can’t help in that situation, but get into a mindset like that… You’ve been given this gift and every single day is a gift. And I wanted to make the most of it.”
It’s a great quote from an extraordinary person who certainly has gone on to make the most out of his undoubted talents, but you don’t have to wait until experiencing a near death experience to live like that.
Treat every day as a gift.
Make the most of the time that you have.
