Monday Morning XTC for Unbossers - 2022/week 20

What I'm watching (long)?-?

Future of the car, Elon Musk?- Two things I find particularly interesting from an unbossing?perspective:?

  1. On the future of Twitter: Elon always connects free speech with (1) transparency and (2) no account/no opinion within legal regulations can be banded. I cannot help but see the parallel?with the conditions for an unbossed organization cultures with high psychological safety where people openly share ideas.?
  2. On the future of Tesla: "By 2030 the?world will require?2 billion cars per year. If we as Tesla want to make a dent in sustainable and electrified cars, we have to produce 1% of that. That's 20 million cars per year by 2030. So that's our aspiration - not a promise - and we feel confident that we have a chance to succeed." Elon Musk. For the record, 20 million cars per year is more than what Ford and Volkswagen produce together, but that doesn't matter. Elon derives the goals of Tesla, not from the competition, but from the purpose of Tesla. That's unbossed thinking!?

What I'm reading?-?

98% Of HR Professionals Are Burned Out, Study Shows,?Jack Kelly?(Forbes)?-?"A clear trend of employee burnout emerged over the past 18 months, as people dealt with remote and hybrid working transitions. However, this survey reveals that in the past six months, HR leaders have felt the brunt of this burnout, as they are left to shoulder these macro workplace issues—largely on their own."?

I can strongly relate with HR Leaders. Unbossing international corporates is a though job. We are asking a lot from them: eliminate bureaucracy, change organization structures, adapt performance management systems, bring the most toxic interpersonal tensions to the table, etc. All of this in the most challenging times already. Even I wonder?sometimes whether it is even possible to unboss an oil tanker. But then, on a weekly basis I come across research like this one.?The results are?always devastating. Our human capital is suffering. This is not just an HR issue. This is everybody's problem.?I see it validated in the eyes of the people we work with everyday. Then I remember, this is why I do what I do. I hope more people feel this call to action. Because the command-and-control machine is just not sustainable anymore.?

Kendrick Lamar - The Heart Part 5?- Apart from the fact that Kendrick just dropped another master piece, this?video for his latest single, “The Heart Part 5,” is a stunning feat of deep fake technology, where the rapper’s face morphs seamlessly into those of Kobe Bryant, O.J. Simpson, Jussie Smollett, Kanye West, Nipsey Hussle and Will Smith.?
