The Monday Morning Principle: How to Rescue Your Monday Mornings
Shamiri Institute
Shamiri means “thrive”. We envision a future where young people actualize their life potential.
It's Monday morning, and honestly, many of us are never excited about it.
The weekend always seems too short, and the week ahead always appears too long. There are too many things on our to-do lists on Mondays, too many messages on Teams or Slack, and how about the boring Monday morning meetings with the rest of the team?
It seems that there is little to be excited for on Mondays. But what if we could change the narrative and start our week with excitement and purpose?
At Shamiri, we use what we call the Monday Morning Principle to rescue our Monday mornings.
The principle is simple: ask yourself two questions:
1.????What is the overarching goal of your role?
2.????What are the 2-3 things that you can do to accelerate the path towards achieving that goal or remove the barriers that may stand in your way?
Rather than thinking of the mundane tasks we must do on Monday morning, we focus on the bigger picture of our role and identify how we can accelerate our path towards achieving our goals.
Implementing the Monday Morning Principle has allowed us to start our week with excitement and purpose. It helps us focus on what's important, prioritize our tasks, and be more productive. We have found that when we start our week with a clear sense of purpose, it sets the tone for the rest of the week.
So why don't you try the Monday Morning Principle this week? Take a few minutes to reflect on your overarching goal and identify two to three things you can do to accelerate your path towards achieving that goal. Let's start our week with excitement and purpose!
