Preparation' what you need... if you wanna be a business owner.

If you read that to the tune of Record Breakers with Roy Castle, stop here because you're clearly on a higher trajectory in life and need no such posts to stimulate your ascent to greatness.

For the rest of us, consider the fact that approximately 1 in 5 startup businesses will fail in their first year. Less than 50% will see past 5 years trading.

From the moment we start, there are things we can do;

• Create a robust financial plan
• Know the market
• Set goals
• Get advice

As the last point says, advice is there as an absolute bedrock of beginning a business well. Whether that is in the form of a franchisor, a co-founder, a financial backer or someone like me as a business mentor. The key is to get as much advice from as many places as you can. After all, isn't that the beauty of You Tube?
