Monday will always feel like Monday.

Monday will always feel like Monday.

Welcome to the very first edition of YOU on Mondays. I am very very elated to have you as a subscriber.

What you are about to read is how I felt while drafting this newsletter but after your subscription, I feel so alive, happy, excited, and honored to have you in my network. However, I am fully aware of why you subscribed to this newsletter. So, let's have it.

Mondays are inevitable and no matter how much we rest over the weekend, they always seem to sneak up on us. The alarm sounds louder than usual, your bed feels more comfortable and sometimes the long list of meetings just automatically makes it more hectic and unexciting (I don't want to use the word boring). And then, there's that one colleague who's always suspiciously energetic on Mondays...every minute, kindly find attached. Hello Sir/Ma, can you please rest?

But have you heard about the unwritten Monday rules?

  • The First Hour Warm-Up: We check emails, maybe sip coffee and try to remember what day it is.
  • The Weekend Guilt Trip: We feel bad for not doing enough over the weekend.
  • The Energy Pretend: Everyone acts more energetic than they actually are (yes, even that super-energetic colleague).

Your to-do list is unnecessarily long, deadlines are tight and your energy is fading fast. From me to you, that can be overwhelming especially when you don't have an eventful or relaxing weekend. So as your corporate buddy, let me advise you - Vent out your frustrations and complain (just a little). It's normal to feel overwhelmed. Take a deep breath, focus on one task at a time and remind yourself that getting through the day is a win.

If you are reading this and Monday motivation comes naturally to you, people like us will love to hear your strategies.

  • What drives your productivity and enthusiasm?

That's all for today's "You on Mondays" rant session. If you have any more rants, tips or stories to share, hit the reply button and let's keep the conversation going.

Let me drop this motivational quote for you for the week: "Believe you can and you are halfway there" - Theodore Roosevelt.

Until next Monday, stay ranty, stay real.

Please remember to share this with your career buddies, the more the merrier they say.
