The moment you stop "learning", is the moment you stop "growing" - Growth has it's own identity !
Things grow with time, and every growth has its own identity. Who doesn’t want to be famous and evolve as a Brand? Everyone. I witnessed the value of “Growth” with the journey of both my books. Although books became a part of my passion, at the same time it became a primary entity to awaken the leader within me too.
“Growth has its own identity” – That’s the phrase which pushed me to think that “The moment you stop learning, is The moment you stop growing”.
I launched my first book (It’s Not How, It’s Why) way back in 2017, where I invited more than 50 individuals but you will be surprised to know the turned-up figure, Guess How many? Only one, Yes - only one of my childhood friends and along with me my younger cousin brother. You know how it feels, when you are first time doing something for public, have planned something big, you are on the path of your passion, wanted to do the best you can. But such results - demotivates, demoralises, breaks you down. However, this shouldn’t be the end.
But things changed for my 2nd book (The Next Real Want) which was launched in Jan 2020. Here the readers surprised me from the other way. Me along with my publisher’s team although had planned so well, but had never expected to have a houseful event with more than 100’s of readers across the city of Mumbai. Later which continued to have multiple launches at different places, in different city. And very soon, was very happy to get the news from the Publisher that we have crossed the threshold figures and announced as “National Best Seller” for both my titles.
Here, in this article thought of sharing key learnings from my two book launches, which taught me to practice “Personal Leadership”.
1. A book is a product that attracts the readers, it’s not the other way:
A book has to earn the trust, interest and attention from the readers. Else every branding, marketing and social media activities are just for fun. Having a book is no less than any other product in the market. It’s a business and need to be taken forward with a proper product strategy to have a success.
2. Unknown readers are the King & are true critics:
Growth from 0 to 1 is only through the learnings and the major sources are the critical readers, with genuine feedbacks. Actions on these feedbacks will be the change maker. I received a feedback from one of my reader to change the chapter sequence and swap chapter No 7 with Chapter no 3. This was a bit of difficult decision to take for me, as I have to change few other contents as well so as to align to the idea of the overall book. But I did that in the 2nd edition, and was surprise with the positive response I got thereafter - This made more sense.
3. “Inner You” is more powerful than “Outer You”:
Things changes with the power of X, once you understand your “Inner You” - your strengths, your weakness, your plan and more importantly with your “why factor”. To be honest the word “Why” was so powerful for me that I wrote an entire book based on this one word - Why. A clarity on your why - will make almost all the things clear, although the path may be difficult but definitely will be a successful path.
4. Your Plan is always “your plan” - Don’t miss it:
The clarity about “You” & “Your Plans” counts a lot. Rest everything is just a part of somebody else’s plan. Don’t miss it, act on it no matter what. And if you don’t have a plan- then don’t worry a decade later few crazy minds will call you a “Failure”- And be ready for that if you're not serious about your plan.
5. Time is bloody everything:
This was one of my biggest realisation - that with time everything will change. Every minute I breathe 16 - 19 times, and with every passing sec I’m heading closer to the death bed. Bloody time is everything, just stop all the nonsense you are doing, focus only on the things that matters you the most - matters your family, your happiness, your health or the craziest activities you are most passionate about.
