A moment of normalcy - Reflections from the (baseball) field

A moment of normalcy - Reflections from the (baseball) field

This past weekend, as I sat in the bleachers and watched my sons play baseball, I enjoyed a moment of normalcy – even if that did mean wearing a mask and keeping a distance from the other parents. In that moment, I thought about how much has changed over the last six months, but also how many things remain the same. Kids still like to play baseball and families still like to come out and root for their teams while enjoying the early fall days in New England.

As the pandemic lingers, and despite the challenges we continue to navigate while working from home—including barking dogs, ringing doorbells and spouses and children wandering into view on our many video calls— there remains a collective sense of being in this together.

Every day my colleagues around the world at Ipsen demonstrate that shared sense of purpose and have kept their passion and dedication to their work. We remain committed to making a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families – and for that I want to thank them.

I hope we can all find some small, yet important, moments of normalcy. They refresh and ground us – and help us to focus on what’s most important. Due to the resourcefulness of science and the commitment of many, life will one day change again as the industry continues to make advances in treatment options. And as it does, we will keep what was always important – and perhaps carry forward some new lessons we have learned over these last six months.
