The Moment I Walked Through the Door...

No Young Person Should Face the Weight of Homelessness Alone

Not everyone will have a warm place to stay this Christmas.

For young people like Ari, life can be an overwhelming mix of challenges - homelessness, mental health struggles, and the stress of navigating services that feel out of reach. At just 16, Ari was sofa-surfing, trying to keep others happy just to have a place to sleep. “I felt like I had this constant pressure on my chest, like I couldn’t breathe,” she shared.

“The staff were kind and welcoming, offered me a cup of tea; they let me be myself. I felt safe, able to say things I wouldn’t normally say. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt like I could finally breathe.”

Many young people like Ari come to Centre 33 juggling multiple challenges. Stress, anxiety, family pressures, financial worries, and the strain of navigating services often take a toll - especially during winter, when emotions run high, and help feels even harder to find.

Ari’s journey changed when she walked through our door.

At Centre 33, we provide a safe, welcoming space for young people to be heard and supported. Last year, we supported over 4,000 young people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, offering practical and emotional help for housing, mental health, caring responsibilities, and more.

This Christmas, you can be the turning point in a young person’s life. Your donation helps us keep our doors open and provide vital support for young people facing homelessness, mental health crises, or other challenges.

?? Help lift the weight this winter and give young people a brighter future. Donate today: www.centre33.org.uk/through-the-door

Your kindness can make a world of difference. Together, we can ensure that no young person has to face these challenges alone.

With gratitude,
