A Moment in Eternity
Do you ever feel tired and overwhelmed by the problems and difficulties you’re facing? How do you cope when you feel that you’re facing impossible obstacles? What are your alternatives when life becomes too difficult? Where do you find your answers when your options seem extremely limited and you don’t know how to bring order out of the chaos?
These trying moments can certainly be challenging and that’s when we’re likely to give up on our dreams and ambitions. That’s when we’re most likely to quit. Sometimes, it’s simply because we don’t have the energy to keep going. Sometimes, the situation feels too painful. Sometimes, we don’t see a way out of our difficulties.
To the ego, the present moment hardly exists. Only past and future are considered important. It is always concerned with keeping the past alive, because without it — who are you?
-?????? Eckhart Tolle
When you’re tired and emotionally drained, it’s very tempting to submit to feelings of despair and then surrender all sense of control over your life and your destiny. The truth is, these feelings affect everybody at some point or another. They’re a very familiar phenomenon that we’re all bound to run into somewhere along life’s pathway. And when the obstacles or challenges appear to be too formidable to overcome, that’s when we’re likely to lose confidence in our ability to find the answers we’re seeking. That’s when we lose faith in our potential to rise above our problems.?
Difficulties can do more than test our resolve to fight on. They can shrink our perspective. Our field of vision becomes narrow and we lose sight of the bigger picture. We focus on our sense of helplessness and this can produce a rapidly descending spiral of despair. It happens more often and to more people than you might imagine. The mission today is to recognise that difficulties and challenges will always arise and to ask ourselves how we can deal with them more effectively.
The answer might not seem obvious. Because it's found in our perspective.
Your life situation may be full of problems - most life situations are - but find out if you have a problem at this moment. Not tomorrow or in ten minutes, but now. Do you have a problem now? When you are full of problems, there is no room for anything new to enter, no room for a solution. So, whenever you can, create some room, create some space, so that you find the life underneath your life situation.
Would it surprise you to learn that we spend most of our time in another place that often robs us of our creativity, neutralises our confidence and blunts our ability to see things clearly? It’s a place that we’re all very familiar with and it’s called – The Past.
The past informs everything about the present and it continues to provide the framework for most of our thoughts and feelings and behaviours. Unfortunately, the past can equally represent an emotional minefield where the wounds, defeats and scars too often remind us of how painful life can be. And humans instinctively avoid pain. Failed relationships, traumatic defeats, embarrassing failures all leave their mark upon our memory. And whenever we encounter the possibility of another repeat episode of emotional agony, our natural instinct is to retreat as quickly as possible and put distance between ourselves and the source of the threat. We’re essentially hardwired to respond in this manner.
The past has no power over the present moment – unless we permit it.

But when you stop to consider the situation more rationally and pause to breathe more deeply, you can shift your viewpoint to a new perspective. You can imagine yourself floating high above the confusing and challenging circumstances and learn to appreciate how the landscape suddenly changes. Your view takes in a much broader vista. Your situation can be appreciated in a much wider and clearer context. And you can step away from the shadows of the past.
Welcome to the present, a moment of absolute reality that might be the only true source of a purer, more objective perspective for humans. It’s a moment of clarity that all of us can experience. There have been many publications and videos that encourage us to develop greater awareness and, when you turn your attention to this present moment, you enter a new and refreshing form of consciousness. This shift in perception introduces you to a very powerful experience. It’s unusual because pretty much everyone is living in their own constructed versions of the past and constantly projecting their version of reality into the future. The future is simply a reflection of the past. And people wonder why it seems so difficult to create meaningful change in their lives.
Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to "die before you die - and find that there is no death
The answer is in this perfect present moment that can be detached from the past and serve as a framework for a new and very different future. The idea is not new. It’s been the subject of philosophical discussion for thousands of years. Its value is being rediscovered in our modern age but the principle remains the same. The present moment exists in eternity. It does not need the past and it is immune to the future. It is only now and, when your consciousness touches the magnitude of the present moment, all the shadows of the past slip away and you are free to exercise your creativity to the full. It’s a moment of pure serenity. Thoughts do not need to intrude. But you are free to project your new vision of the future into this intensely real moment.
In ancient times, the present was considered to be absolutely sacred because it was claimed that every universe that ever existed was created in this moment. The immensity of that concept lends a spur to our natural creativity and, when we enter into the present, we grant ourselves the power to create the future of our dreams.
Find the present moment for yourself today and transform your life forever.
